But still think the Knight Riders line up is not as good as some others in this competition. They have very little in terms of quality after no.5 in their batting line up and a Brett Lee, on such a track, if he gets a couple early, could easily run through that line up.


Bangalore have guys capable of holding a bat and even hitting out all the way down their line up. So, pray tell me why do they need Jaffar?????????

Probably wouldnt but it doesnt mean that guys who have been exposed at the top level are any better than him or others on the Indian domestic scene

I realise this wasn't an international, but it's still pretty extraordinary that, in 20 overs, McCullum hit more 6s than anyone in the entire history of either test or ODI cricket. It's also extraordinary that no-one has scored 200 in an ODI yet he managed 158 in 20 overs.

You can't compare Australian/English domestic cricket to Indian domestic cricket considering every man and his dog seems to either average over 50 with the bat or less than 25 with the ball (how it happens, I do not know)

Would be very surprised if White averaged less than fifty had played his career in Indian domestic cricket.

I am sure White is a very good batsman, but the thing is he was given a bowl and he bowled poorly and is being criticized for it. In fact, in most of those posts, they were more like criticizing the DECISION to bowl him rather than criticize the man himself... Not sure why it should create so much discussion here... If say a Laxman got a bowl and bowled poorly, he will be criticized(regardless of how good a batsman he is) and so will the decision to bowl him..

Have to agree, especially the choice to open with Dravid AND Jaffer at the top - having an anchor and a goer at the top can cause problems if they both aren't on their game, but two players who prefer to play in an anchor type role at the top of a T20 innings is a VERY poor selection

Agree, but it's not like they stuck around and blocked out the first ten overs. They were gone pretty quick, and no-one in the Bangalore side got a start, so it wouldn't have mattered if Cam White and Boucher had gone out to face the first over.

Change team nicknames

Even with McCullum ensuring that the IPL started of with a massive bang. I still can't get over the fact how hilariously poor certain franchises team nicknames are. The only two that are reasonable are Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils. The rest are mere copycats of each other (Kings/Super Kings and Royals/Royal Challengers) or just outright racist, Mumbai 'Indians' . I mean WTF. So I propose a change in team nicknames

Mumbai Maestros - Typifies captain Tendy to a tee.

Chennai Cobras - With Murali twirling away, there's likely to be plenty of venom in their bowling.

Punjab Pythons - Strangle their opponents when on top...

Bangalore Blockers - With guys like Dravid, Jaffer and Kallis in the team...
Na seriously, how bout Bangalore Bears ?

Obviously with issues like sponsors, company owners, none of these nicknames will become an eventuality, but they certainly sound a lot more exciting than the originals.
