?!

Nothing wrong with his first touch, it's his finishing that's the problem atm, every other part of his game is top notch atm.

Just watched Swansea v Brizzle Rovers, good advert for League One football I must admit, don't think Swansea will have too many problems next year in the Championship myself.
Well i would say 'total control of his first touch is not fully there when he plays the role of the lone striker IMO. I remeber him collecting a huge kick from the back (from either Vidic or Carrick) collecting in front of goal & really should have buried i jumped out of my seat cursing in shot when he missed it.

If he was playing with another striker i reckon he may have scored a hat-trick on sunday.

You've just utterly destroyed your own argument. Brilliant first touch, didn't finish it.

Disagreed, vehemently.

Never used to be his biggest fan, but the general criticisms you always hear trotted out against him were all applicable a while ago, they're generally a thing of the past now. Been the best defender in the Premiership this year by a mile IMO.
Well, you know more about him than I do, I've barely seen the Premiership this season. If you say he's playing well and his attitude's changed, I believe you.

You're unlikely to change my opinion that he's a ****, though. :p

That's fair enough, it was only really by last season where he was beginning to get me on his side, and this year where he's really excelled.

He's only a temporary captain, anyway, Capello has said there'll be more too, but, if I cared about England anymore, I'd rather Ferdinand than Terry, who sets a simply ****e example to his side. In fact, I don't see a top-notch captain in the England side, and possibly not even in world football atm.

If he ever gets fit Gary Neville is the best English captain by a mile. But yeah in the current set up no one stands out at all.

A lot of the disslike towards Rio Ferdinand goes back to the drugs test ban thing but I strongly supported Tony Adams (was furious whe the armband was taken off him & given to Shearer) & he did far worse so if Adams deserved a 2nd chance then so does Rio I suppose.

Tony Adams is 10 times the leader Ferdinad will ever be though.

hmm, Neville, dunno, used to think so, but the way Ferdinands conducted himself this year, i'd put him ahead. Neville is a captain in the mould of Keane etc, which is no bad thing, but he's not nearly as good as Keane. Infact Neville, for all his shouting and annoying the ref, doesnt get as much done as Rio's lead by example and the occasional bollocking does.

I'd rather have Rio as the captain ATM, letting his performance do the talking

How are we feeling about tonight? I really struggle to get it up for friendlies just now, especially with no tournament to look forward to.

Arguably, yes, Neville strikes me as a hell of an organizer, but he doesn't strike me as someone to galvanize the troops when the chips are down... Ferdinand is hardly a great in this respect but IMO he's probably superior to Neville.

Hmm, really not fussed myself, might watch the first-half simply because there isn't a clown in charge, but I'm so jaded by top-flight players.

bloke with more beards then the sikh army passes to bloke who cheat on his missus with replica blondes presumably because he's too pissed to tell them apart passes to drug-cheat drink-driver passes to the canadian passes to the bloke whos helped keep the most talentless wretched skinny life form ridiculously famous for years passes to colleens bloke passes to fattie

ha but thats all ****ing nonsense, because you'll never get these ridiculously overpaid over-rated prima donas making that many ****ing passes in a row:@

Not really sure you can especially fault James per se. Had to come out, didn't get there, Anelka runs into him. Shoddy defenders imo.

Extremely poor defending by Terry, if you're being harsh you could arguably also fault James, as he seemed to hesitate, but I haven't really seen it enough yet.

Brown has been complete toss. Have to say though, a bit harsh to be behind given how things have gone so far.

Not watching it, but James' speciality is charging at the attacker like a headless chicken during 1 on 1s and making it piss easy for them to just knock it by and get the penalty.

Presume he did something like this for the first goal.

Yeah, we didn't defend well as a whole, really. There were a couple of incidents in the second half we were lucky to get away with. Besides, Anelka pretty much ran straight into James, he made no effort to get out the way.

Interestingly, Arsène Wenger is the analyst on the French channel that shows the France matches, and it was very intriguing to hear what he had to say about some of the England players. He seemed to rate Stewart Downing inexplicably highly, he had a lot of good things to say about Owen Hargreaves, and he even made fun of Wes Brown's lack of technical ability at one point, which he'd never do on English TV. It's quite strange watching an England match from the "wrong" side, so to speak.

Wes Brown had a bit of a mare, Downing was doing alright right up until the moment he had to cross the ball, at which point he was dire. Only person that could actually cross though was Beckham, which doesn't look good for the future.
