And I wonder how many times thierry henry has met McCullum to declare him to be a "smart-arse big-noter".

Good to see Anderson getting some games in the New Zealand Comp, but i dont think the standard is that good. Why you only play 5 games

Because the first 5 or 6 four day rounds are played before Christmas. Then the one-dayers and twenty20's are played during the holiday period to hopefully pull better crowds.

Great to see Andrew De Boorder in the Auckland side. He has alot of potential. Scored quite a few runs for the NZ U19's previously.

Wellington well on top against Auckland. 230 ahead after the first innings; with centuries from Grant Elliott and Neil Parlane with a half century for Mark Houghton's Taita teammate, Steve Gellatly who was making his First Class debut.

Auckland lost Jones and McIntosh to Shreck before the close leaving them still 200 runs short of making Wellington bat again with only 8 wickets remaining.

GO WELLINGTON!!! WHOOP WHOOP!

Anderson gets some overs (38-13-95-2) econ 2.5. His bowling partners -

Nichol 58 matches 14 wickets at 60.07
Grandholme 14 matches 8 wickets at 39.75
McKay 8 matches 22 wickets at 23.22
Hayne 4 matches 7 wickets 53.28
Bates 3 matches 7 wickets at 18.57

How come Auckland's bowlers haven't played very many f/c matches?

Because in front of them are Mills, Martin, Tuffey, Adams and Hira. Auckland are down to their subs bar Anderson and McKay.

Well they certainly got lots of overs under their belts. Are Tuffey and Adams allowed to play for Auckland when they come back from the ICL?

Auckland's bowlers 58 wickets
Wellington's 318 wickets

A great win for Wellington today. An innings victory. Disappointing for Auckland to be cleaned up by Johnsonville's finest - Luke Woodcock.

Yeah, Adams had taken something like 27 wickets at an average of 5 in the first 5 rounds of the State Championship for Auckland. They're finding life a bit difficult now.

Greg Hay continues to score runs. I thought his average might have been a bit of a fluke after his first two seasons, but he's doing it again to suggest he really does have immense ability.

To be fair, his two hundreds this season have both been on the deadest of dead pitches, with Canterbury rattling along to 344/1 to get a ridiculously easy win today. On the other hand, his effort in the match were he scored two 90's on a tough pitch earlier in the season was hugely impressive.

I don't really mind if he's scoring them on dead pitches. If he's doing it consistently then that's good enough for me.

As long as he doesn't do a Sinclair.

CD have a long record of batsmen that promise so much but ultimately disappoint us.
