Who cares anymore, Australia won the test series, India won the ODIs, both teams are getting paid crap loads by the IPL, let it rest.

I don't like Harbhajan personally, but my gut says he didn't say it. There's no point saying the comments and then denying them later. You don't gain anything from that really.

Tendulkar's word holds alot of sway and rightly or wrongly, I don't believe that he would lie about what Harby said.

In the Australian legal system (been a while since legal studies), a Court of law would be looking to prove someone 'guilty beyond resonable doubt', whereas a tribunal and in civil cases, are looking to rule on the 'balance of probabilities'. They obviously believed it was more likely that the Australian team were telling the truth in this initial hearing. However the impartiality of this tribunal was questionable.

I was in London at the time so i was not amongst the media circus that preceded in Australia, what i was presented in the media really reflected badly on both teams.

I wish we could just stop talking about this. The media - Australian and Indian - ran with this/these story/stories because it brought in money. They could have taken the high road and left the players themselves to sort this whole mess out.

Well Harby can't be faulted for his retaliation against Hayden cause Hyaden started it with his weed remark.

And regarding Gilly remark, I think it was uncalled for. Though he might be referring to pre WC 2003 WC Gilly era, when he was not a walker. Anyway on a whole not necessary remarks in the context that the tour is over. Or maybe they are starting the war of words for IPL.

Maybe they are... I don't know. Regardless, I watch cricket for the cricket. If I want theatrics I will take in a Christian Bale film.

The first thing newspapers lay out is advertising space. The most coveted ad' space on TV is the first break. The way the media handled this whole thing was as such:

1) Australian media portrays Australian sporting hero as a victim of racism.
2) Indian media portrays Indian sporting hero as a victim of faulty, unsubstantiated claims.

The fact that people are still arguing about it shows that the media saturation has worked. I hope you all enjoy your new vacuum cleaner.

I think Haydos commenting on Bhajj's career figures were bit over the top, considering he averages 31 in test cricket, and that's not exactly bad for a spinner, not in the modern context, considering Australia's current best test bowler averages 30.

But yeah, gone is gone. Bring in on the IPL. Finally some uncluttered entertainment.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India will ask the ICC to investigate the actions of match referee Jeff Crowe, who pursued unauthenticated media reports against Harbhajan Singh.

Many newspaper reports in Australia accused off-spinner Harbhajan of making monkey gestures at sections of the crowd during the first Commonwealth Bank Series final between Australia and India in Sydney.

Following the reports, referee Crowe proceeded with an investigation into the alleged incident, but decided to take no action against Harbhajan after inspecting all the available evidence.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is not happy with Crowe's conduct.

"It's atrocious. How could the match referee decide on intervening in the matter on the basis of media reports," India team manager Bimal Soni told the Times of India.

"There was no word to the Indian team management and the next day the match referee said he found nothing wrong and that he had cleared Harbhajan. This is totally baseless.

"We have asked the BCCI to look into the matter and secretary Niranjan Shah has written to the ICC seeking an explanation."

Even Harbhajan was surprised by the media reports in Australia.

"If the media had its way, they would have not allowed me to even move my hands except when bowling. That the media back home also bought the story is what baffles me more," he said.
FINALLY THE BCCI stop being the nice guys and get bullied.
Crowe acted on healy's commentary on dhoni's gloves when gilchrists gloves were illegal too and then on aussie media reports on harbhajan.

Wait, on what legal grounds? That's like suing Hayden for calling Harbhajan an obnoxious weed.
Nope

Hayden basically said that he cant stand Harbajhan - join the queue

Harbajhan, if he said it, did something far more serious and Hayden would be well within his rights to sure for defamation

Match referee acted on media reports and found no case to answer

If the ICC had ignored the reports, there should've been an inquiry into why

Healy was right about Dhoni's gloves and zero evidence has been produced to prove that Gilchrist's gloves were the same

Just the usual whinging

What did he say that was more serious, exactly?

I think the media has had a big part in fueling this controversy .... The media asks irrelevant Qs to the players and some dumbasses play right into its hands by answering them with non-sense tjus adding more fuel to the fire

the OZ media played its part, now it's time for the Ind media to repeat that act

Thankfully, the series against RSA is around the corner, followed by IPL, so it won't give media much time to get on its act on

Same guy makes Gilchrist's gloves, per Gilly:
http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,23291214-23212,00.html

The guy who makes it, says the ones used by Gilchrist and Dhoni are made to same code:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/02/28/2174891.htm

Next time, consider spending 5 minutes with Google first.

WHY??? What has Bhajji said wrong here mate? he has just said what he thinks abt the asutralian players....but NOT in a such a rude way....his words must have been sensibly chosen....its better than calling gilly an obnoxious weed etc etc...theres nothing wrong in what has been said here....no-one can sue for for anything!! Maybe, it can be argued that he shud nt say too much now as the tour is over etc...but he is just expressing hs grudge against the australian players....something the australian players do quite regularly...fully support bhajji here!
Indeed. The problem with some aussie supporters like 'Social' is that they have huge double standards and a really big chip above.

Hayden makes insulting remarks, According to them There is nothing wrong with making an honest statement, Bhajji makes an insulting remarks, then they go on attacking Bhajji.

Hayden makes an insulting remark, then its nothing but a synonym for the word 'dislike' in the Aussie culture, same people were shouting racism racism when Bhajji used the 'M' word despite being told that 'M' word can never be equal to racism in Indian culture.

These crap individuals have made me support Bhajji.

And now Cricket Australia has joined in all the crying and bitching. They have complained to BCCI about Harbhajan, saying "Enough is enough,..."Despite assurances that you have instructed him not to fuel this issue any more, Harbhajan continues to say whatever he wants. When will it ever end? Could you please deal with your player in regard to these comments."

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2008/03/08/1204780135131.html

Duh..we aren't even sure if those comments were actually made or not or once again it is a figment of imagination of the likes of Conn, Cradock etc in the Aussie media.

Those people who deployed special cameras in stadium to watch Harbhajan are talking about 'Enough is enough', what irony.

God youre an idiot

Hayden doesnt like Harby and says so

Harby retaliates by saying that Hayden is a liar.

About what?

The only thing that it could be is the evidence he gave at the inquiry. That is a very serious charge and, IF HARBY SAID IT, he needs to be severely reprimanded AND it forms the basis of a legal complaint

As for monkey, you're obviously living under the same rock as he is if you still dont get the fact that it is a racially offensive slur
