**** me, assuming Liver****e get through, I'd say Barcelona are the only non-English side in with a realistic chance of winning the CL, Roma won't IMO and neither will the other two.
Barca will be without Messi for a while, too.

I'd go as far to say that if Barcelona go out the winners would be either Arsenal or Man Utd (barring another ridiculous fluke run from liverpool, which would be dire, as they clearly are the worst of the english sides left in it), a Man Utd vs Arsenal final would be superb, as they have clearly been the two form sides in england and europe this season, would be a fitting climax.

But as you say, now that real madrid are out (and they sure were crap last night) there really are few teams from outside england who could be realisitic winners (hopefully).

Got to watch the Liverpool v WHU game at Uni today, Torres is amazing. His finish for the 1st goal was pure class. Shame the rest of the team isn't up to scratch though.

Torres scoring a few goals against a top ten side, admittedly it was the last of the top ten, but all the same, maybe he's starting to become more than just a bottom-half-bully.

Torres is **** hot.
3 hat-tricks this season, even if they weren't against the best sides going, it's still a great feat for a debut Premiership season.

God I hope Liverpool get their asses kicked next Thursday, sick to death of ****y Liverpool fans at school bleating on about how that if Liverpool win the CL, then that makes them the best side in Europe. Technically yes, but I could name about 15 sides that are better than Liverpool atm.

Quality comments from Mourinho today, man gives a good interview:

"If I play them in the Champions League, I want to go there and kill them - that's my message"

Get him together with Sven-Goran 'I want to kill the balloons' Eriksson and you have a pretty psychopathic couple of managers.

CL will never be the measure of quality unless they make it a league, which obviously I hope they don't do. Obviously massively prestigious, but winning it does not make you the best in Europe.

I really would laugh if Inter turn them over, especially given what European bottlers Inter are.

Liverpool will go through, we can count on that I think, tbh this season is very much like 05 when they won the CL, would not be at all surprised to see them do so again

Hoping Liverpool go through TBH, four English teams in the quarter-finals of the CL would be immense. Given that the other teams are going to be Schalke, Fenerbahce, Barcelona and Roma, I'd say at least two of the four will make the semis as well.

Hoping for Man Utd vs Barcelona at some point, they've not played each other in ages. Or Arsenal-Barca, so Fabregas could go back to the Nou Camp.

I think our sides should be able to beat all except Barca tbh, Barca probably favourites to win the thing though, although Man U's recent form suggests that they could beat anybody

United - Barca would be a damp squib IMO - the games against them in the Treble season were the best games I have seen I think, however they were before Real Madrid '03, since which Ferguson seems to have started bottling Europe. As I said earlier, Ferguson would just try and defend which is playing into their hands. Liverpool are probably the English side best suited to dumping them out, tbh I'm hoping Liverpool draw them, put them out, then we get the Scousers in the semi or final - we've had the measure of them for some time.

yeah agree that liverpool are best equipped to knock out ron and chums, hoping that arsenal miss out on drawing an english club at this stage, and dont want to see barcelona either, other than that dont really mind. Provided they get through that round I hope they then avoid man utd for as long as possible, I think Arsenal perhaps could beat man utd in a single round, but doubtful over two legs, wouldnt be surprised if we see an Arsenal vs Man Utd final tbh.

It's entirely possible that one of the English clubs could win the CL without facing a single non-English club from now onwards. Although the odds on that might be a bit low.
