Yet again Rooney showing why he's gone from being world beater to woefully underproducing. Inside the penalty area, central, got room to strike it with his right foot... but no tries a stupid flick instead.

1-0 finally. :D Decent strike from Cesc, but keeper might be bit disappointed to be beaten from 30 yards.

Can't conced two in 3 and a half minutes, surely?!?

Kalac has just cost Ancelotti his job in all probability. Not sure if I wanted them to go through or not from a Premiership point of view, fair play though, outplayed Milan from what I hear, and you don't see that very often. EDIT: From a CL point of view I'm happy, would rather play them than Milan, just don't like Milan tbh.

United safely through, not the most convincing of performances though, particularly second half.

Kalac is most famous for his direness in the Aus vs Croatia game in the last WC. He was woeful that day, should've got to the Fabregas goal, but the 2nd Arsenal goal he had no chance. Still staggers me that he's at Milan, even if he's the perennial bench warmer.

Indeed - I was sitting directly behind him in the stadium when he produced that "moment" against Croatia. I still haven't forgiven him, but I would have dead set lynched him if it had cost us as spot in the last 16. Can't believe he's the second choice keeper at one of the world's great clubs.

Well played to the Gooners though, didn't watch it as I was watching United, but all reports have said they ran the show from start to finish. Great effort.

As for my boys...well, we won. Not a lot more you can say about that, particularly the second half which was dire. I thought our back four were strong, particularly Evra, but we just couldn't keep possession in that second 45 for any more than a couple of passes and so let Lyon get into the game far more than we should have. Benzema looks the real deal though - looked dangerous every time he touched the ball, even if he was pretty isolated for a lot of the match.

Roll on Pompey.

Well played by Arsenal, great result, made Milan look very ordinary, and showed what can be done if you keep Kaka quiet, thought the referee and his assistants had a pretty poor game, a number of poor decisions going against both teams, but without a doubt the best team came out on top here, thought the critisism of Kalac was a bit harsh tbh, sure he could have done better, but it wasnt a disasterous error, had fabregas been properly closed down he would never have even got his shot away, but he was everywhere last night, a great individual performance by him.

Another good performance by Theo Walcott as well I thought, lightning pace, and great composure shown to set up Adebayor, hopefully he will be back in the starting line up at the weekend.

Agree with every word of this paragraph, aptly sums up yesterday's game, professional job was about all you could say, but a win is a win.

Wahey Madrid have gone out, excellent, that brings the number of teams that I genuinely fear still in the competition down to one - think Fergie will bottle it against Barcelona, hope they get knocked out by someone else tbh.

So much for the perceived thought that Fernando Torres is not a goal scorer, his been a revelation in a pretty poor team it must be said.

Have since seen the Arsenal game, they were highly impressive tbh, well played indeed.

In all fairness he did miss a hell of a lot of sitters in Spain, however he's had an excellent season so far, no doubt about that, shame about the rest of the side.

**** me, assuming Liver****e get through, I'd say Barcelona are the only non-English side in with a realistic chance of winning the CL, Roma won't IMO and neither will the other two.
