At least this time the celebrity they've brought in is a) somebody with a bit of charisma, and b) somebody with an athletic background. I bet in a real fight there's probably a decent number of WWE guys that Mayweather would knock the crap out of.
yeah agreed, his punches on big show at no way out looked pretty real, WWE showed a replay in slow motion and his fist connects with big shows face, fair play to show for doing that, must have hurt like hell, just a shame the crowd seems to be left pretty cold by te entire thing.

Yeah, for sure. I think we also have the same strategy of using this thread to distract from work, as well.
yeah no doubt about that, i've been on here more than i've done any work this week, thus is the joy of the bosses being away...no doubt that will all change next week when they return...

Glad to see this thread alive and kicking again, only it distracts me from Uni, not work. :D

Mayweather has the potential to be awesome, but for ****s sake they need to book him as a heel. The man is the most annoying **** on the face of the planet when he turns it on, virtually everyone he's ever fought I've willed to destroy him purely because he's such an arrogant, annoying ****. The dude is the biggest heel in the history of boxing, so why the hell are the WWE trying to book him as a face? Stick him with MVP and watch sheer quality unfold. But no, they try to book him as a face and put him into a program with the newly returned Big Show, who is undoubtedly going to come off on the losing end because Mayweather ain't gonna job to anyone in the WWE and a badly injured Rey Mysterio. I honestly have no faith in the WWE anymore, they finally do something right (Jeff Hardy, for the most part) but two potentially huge returns (Jericho, Show) are totally ****ed up. What good is it going to do having this potential GOOD monster come back in Show and have him job to someone a third of his size? I really can't see anything good coming out of this, but eh.

Also, Sledgers new avatar = gun

It's really old, tbh. He had it ages ago.

Not amped about Wrestlemania at all, only match that I'm remotely interested in is MiTB. Michaels carrying a carcass to a 4-star match is hardly a rare sight, and I'm sure HBK is going to do another one of those 1-month heel runs, which just leave me wanting a full-blown turn that never happens.

haha no I havent, this avatar is brand new, I have had a sonic one before, but never a running sonic!

And yeah, I'm in agreement over Mania for the most part, though at this stage it looks miles better than WM22.

Agree with this again, I expect mayweather would haev refused to do it as a heel though, and him jobbing would be one of the most stupid things ever, as there is nobody on the roster who could believably take him in a real fight.

But agree about the Y2J return, imo he should have been on the end of the push that Jeff Hardy is on now, to see both of them enter the MITB strikes me as a huge waste, would have rather see them face each other or have some involvment in the major title picture, rather than the same old faces.

Dunno, I reckon Beth Phoenix would feel none of his punches as the force dissipates around her gigantic jaw, and would eventually wear him down. She could have him.

haha yeah fair point, she certainly isnt the most feminine of all the divas on the roster, i'll give her that. I remember when they had that boxing match at WM 15, Bart Gunn vs Butterbean, was absolutely pathetic and lasted about 15 seconds iirc.

Not really all that surprising when you consider he's hardly an old time WWE guy, having not joined until 2001, and will always be more of a WCW guy than WWE anyway. Couple that with the fact he is part of TNA now, and there you go.

yeah that pretty much sums it up, coupled with the fact that he hardly did anything of any note in his 6 years in the wwe, his one world title reign was entirely forgettable, and the king booker thing was dreadful tbh.

Yeah, it's a shame, that. He's obviously a very talented guy, but the fact that he was ex-WCW coupled with the fact that Triple H didn't like him was always going to hold him back. Always liked him as a face though, didn't get enough face runs.

Plus I like the fact that during his feud with Batista he admitted in a shoot interview that he "beat him up real bad" at SummerSlam as revenge on behalf of the locker room, who were all pissed off at Batista's constant presence in the title scene despite being one of the laziest workers in the company, and his carelessness in the ring. Anyone who beats up the world's most famous cancer non-sympathiser is alright in my book.

yeah agree with all of that, a very decent performer on the whole, and generally worked much better as a face than as a heel, and yeah as for the backstage fight with batista, I cant say I blame him whatsoever. Whilst I dont think he's missed very much these days, he still would be good to have back on the roster imo, though I very much doubt we will see him ever again in the WWE.

on the Subject of WCW things being buried, apparently despite HHH pushing the idea massively Vince wont agree to doing a war games match because it was a WCW idea, which sucks, as I always thought war games was a pretty damn good idea for a match.

That's a shame, War Games matches are awesome. I always thought, though, that the Elimination Chamber was supposed to be the substitute for War Games when it was designed. Perhaps they could call it an Elimination Chamber match, but add more Chambers and make it 5 vs 5. Then it'd still be a WWE idea but it would basically be a War Games match.

yeah I imagine if they ever did do a war games then it would be done like this or some other way in which they put a WWE slant on it. Best war games memory for me was the NWO slamming Ric Flairs head in the cage door, dunno why but I found it more funny than anything else. Also funny was the guy in the crowd right behind flair, you could see him getting really animated and screaming "nooooooo", but yet right next to him there was a guy in an NWO shirt shirt waving his arms around screaming "yeeeeeeah".

Haha, I'll have to look that one up. I haven't seen the War Games match involving the NWO, just the very first one in like 1992 or something. I've seen WCW World War III though, basically an attempt at a Super-Mega-Royal Rumble which was pretty dire. Having 60 guys in one match just means you're going to expose the fact that some of your talent is exactly the opposite. Can you imagine a Royal Rumble so bad that Hacksaw Jim Duggan was in it? Or Nunzio? Actually Nunzio has been in one IIRC, but that was when he used to appear on TV more than once a month.

Jim Duggan is just dire, and a complete **** by the sound of things. Imo Nuzio is a perfectly decent wrestler, much better than some of the other crap going around at the moment. He seems to be on the receiving end of the same treatment that Shannon Moore was on for pretty much his entire WWE career up until recently (who is another superstar who is massively underated and terribly used imo).

Just had the thought actually, but does anyone know when Ron Simmons is returning to WWE broadcasts? last I heard he was in rehab for some reason, Damn indeed.

Ron's in rehab? Damn about sums it up. Real shame, that. Best of luck to him.

You're right on all three counts really as well - Duggan is dire (can't believe he won the first ever Royal Rumble), Nunzio is decent (although he desperately needs a new gimmick or at least something to do besides occasionally job to Elijah Burke or Kevin Thorn), and Shannon Moore is excellent. When Helms (a favourite of mine) gets back, although I desperately want him to return as The Hurricane as a face again, I'd also love him to resurrect 3-Count with Moore and someone else, maybe a young talent like one of the two ex-Spirit Squad guys who are knocking around in developmental.

Incidentally, on the subject of developmental, WWE recently severed its ties with OVW and moved all its developmental talent to FCW. Not sure why. One plus point to come out of it is that Nick Dinsmore, a.k.a. Eugene, is now the OVW Heavyweight Champion. With any luck he'll be back in WWE before long. Talented guy who got stuck with an awful gimmick. On that note, bring back Cryme Tyme!

haha yes indeed, Eugene, what a disaster area, like Rob Conway before him, both are talented guys who were horribly used. I imagine we will see Conway, Eugene and Cryme Tyme back in WWE again within the next two years.

Yeah poor old Ron Simmons had some difficultly with drugs/alcohol apparently and thus hasnt appeared on TV for several months now...

But yes I like you am looking forward to the return of Helms, Sugar Shane ftw!
