Some ridiculous comments from Hayden there, how silly can he be? Sure, they aren't particularly offensive, but they're bound to cause some tension between the BCCI and CA, not to mention the players. You'd think after all the controversy that has occured during the Test series and now the CB series that the players would learn to shut their mouths and just play. Evidently that's not true for Hayden and Symonds.

Totally agree. They really show no respect to the game these guys. As The Don once said, players are mere custodians of the game - they ought to treat the game, and by implication their opponents, with a certain amount of respect. By all means, play hard but don't cross the line.

lol.. Hayden and Symonds are the real 'gay' pair here, one feels...

But seriously, it doesn't surprise me that such idiotic and moronic comments are coming from Hayden and Symonds.. Symonds has said that he only told Ishant "well bowled"... Yeah, right 8-)

And of course you know this how? He might have but Ishant, being a young impressionable member of the team, might have thought he was being sarcastic or it's possible that he was too. No-one knows except those two unless there's been a recording of it.

Coz I saw the video?

I mean, it is bleeding obvious to anyone who has even an iota of intelligence that it was NOT what Symonds said... Indeed, if that is what he said, he must be a very strange creature to bark out a compliment in that manner with that expression.....

Seriously, it is getting ridiculous now. Did u even see the video?

Yeah agreed. He definitely wasn't giving Ishant a word of encouragement.

Maharoof gets smashed in ODIs quite frequently - once in a while he has a good game. He was smashed by India in the previous game -hence the correct decision was made to keep him out. My disappointment is with the selectors not picking Welagedera for a single game..... Sanath J does not deserve a farewell game on Friday ....He has done bugger all through this CB series and should be dropped...as a Final retirement send off....

Tharanga and Dilshan or Perera should open. The Team selection should now be focussed on Sri Lanka's future not the past ... Jayasuriya and Vaas should be rested.

My selection would be....

Tharanga
Perera
Kapugedera
Sangakkara
Mahela
Dilshan
Chamara Silva
Malinga
Welagedera
Amerasnghe
Murali

I also hope that the Aussies don't play their weakest team in an attempt to give these Undeserving guys a final Send off Sympathy Win.....

Symonds himself said the cricket field isn't a place to be friendly, or something similar to the nature.

I doubt he's flip flopped in two weeks or whatever.

Yeah Dhoni said it recently, but Symonds himself said that he got pissed at Harbhajan tapping Lee on his arse in the Sydney test because he doesn't like seeing friendship or whatever in test cricket.

I'm obviously paraphrasing, and I'm too lazy to find the article, but needless to say, Symonds is an ugly wanker.

I guess you have to pick Perera if you're going to forget Jayasuriya as he's probably the only other available option in the squad, but what about beyond this series? What would you go with as an XI for Sri Lanka's next ODI series?

Edit: I'd go with the following:

1. U Tharanga
2. C Kapugedera
3. M Jayawardene
4. K Sangakkara
5. L Silva
6. T Dilshan
7. F Maharoof/M Perera
8. C Vaas
9. Murali
10. L Malinga
11. D Fernando

12. Bandara (or replace Vaas when he eventually retires...)

Going against my previous statements of Kapugedera opening (that he shouldn't) simply because I don't think he'd do well at anywhere below 4. Mahela averages over 40 at 3, and 33 at 4, while Kumar averages over 40 at 4 and 35 at 3! Silva currently averages 41 at 5 and he will never be effective any lower than that. Dilshan strikes me as more of a finisher, while Maharoof is there for the want of a better option I'm afraid.

Udawatte, Sangakkara, K Silva, Jayawardene, Dilshan, Kapugedera, Matthews, K Kulasekera, Vaas, Malinga, Muralitharan

Time to blood our batting all rounders (Matthews and Kulasekera) and get Silva and Udawatte into the ODI team.

Hahahaha! What!

Come off it, TC. There is no way that was a compliment. He was just pissed he was bowled and mouthed off at Ishant who was doing his usual wicket jig.

To paraphrase Jono's eloquent phrase, Symonds is an ugly tosser.

Jeez. You arent much of a fan, are you. Never cease to put the foot it when the opportunity presents itself.

And I hope Sana does play in the last game. He has played terribly in this series, but he has done enough and more for SL cricket over the last 17 years to deserve a send off - despite some poor batting in a largely insignificant and tired ODI series. The same goes for Vaas too, I hope he plays and that they both have good ones.

Only ugly, thats being a bit generous.

What amuses me is that some of these average looking guys have some amazing looking wives/girlfriends.

Who says money doesnt buy you love?????

Am absolutely pumped for this final series whereas, in past years, I've been fairly indifferent. There should be a lot feeling; a lot of passion - which is not always the case with protracted ODI series'.

Ticket sales for the 2nd Final in Brisbane are apparently very poor.
That's surprising, the sydney game is sold out, maybe if india wins the first final ticket sales in brisbane will pick up. Anyway, should be a cracker of a game. It will be the one last game before uni begins though :(

Perhaps thats what Hayden was trying to fix by his comments on the radio, certainly will get a bit more interest in Queensland, a Queenslander getting in trouble for sledging an Indian on a Queensland radio station.
