But I think he has the class to step up at the top level.Ross Taylor Positives
-highly talented
-stopped slogging to midwicket every ball
-seems to be developing the virtue of patience
-isn't playing around his front pad early in the innings as often as he used to
Ross Taylor Negatives
-Domestic average of 36 is fairly average compared to other FC batsmen we have, suspect it would drop considerably if his double century is taken out.
-still quite rusty around the edges in terms of technique. He is still developing as a cricketer.
-His best FC position is number five, that spot is taken by Jesse Ryder
-If he were to move up the order we would have to leave out one of Fulton, Flemng, Sinclair who are all better at 3-4 in FC matches than Taylor. Not to mention Hay, Todd, Nicol are better at 3-4 as well.
I just don't think he is ready yet I'm afraid.
Have you been watching him lately? Swinging his bat in an arc towards mid-wicket does not equal class. In recent times Taylor has been severely limited with his stroke play and temperament. But I think he has the class to step up at the top level.
No, but putting in good First Class performances is usually a reasonable indication of whether one will be a success at Test level or not.First class doesnt equal Test.
A few. Is that relevant though? How many batsman who have poor First Class averages have gone on to be good Test batsman? Not a great deal. How many guys who have had awesome averages at First class level have gone on to fail at Test level?
His performances in ODI cricket lately have generally been poor. If you want to see him play, and most likely fail, then fair enough. I for one would rather have somebody else fill the middle order. He has got talent, he has shown he can perform at the top level, albeit ODI. I say, give him a go.

I dunno, he played some lovely shots in the last couple of games, and looked likely to be our hero and take us home last night, until the rain rolled round and stole his thunder. As for him being in poor form, he's actually averaged 41.4 for the Black Caps this season. He's also been in pretty good touch for his State side. Admittedly he's only hit one 50, but that's more a testament to a lack of opportunities at no. 5, than poor form. Not saying that he should be selected, but I wouldn't be suprised if he was, especially after porn star's brain melt.Have you been watching him lately? Ha, he should have took one for the team.hahahahahahahahahaha
that didnt last long lol
Granted maybe he just really needed to pee
But wouldn't you like to know why his technique has changed and why his shot selection has been so poor.Have you been watching him lately? Swinging his bat in an arc towards mid-wicket does not equal class. In recent times Taylor has been severely limited with his stroke play and temperament.
