*Official* English Football Season 2007-08

Get with the times, Rooney dives more often than Ronaldo does, but really neither of them dive much at all these days. If anybody at United does it, it's probably Anderson at the moment. But no, Ronaldo was a diver but people just can't get over the fact that someone as good as he is and as young as he is can actually change his ways for the better.

Also, she's a fan of Ronaldo, so there you go. :p

Ref played a blinder last night but fair play to those chaps cross the water, they played a good game and deserved the victory. Can't see them getting knocked out now either.

In other news, did you all hear about the ITV phone-in scandal? Well the Premier League are now being investigated, for allowing Liverpool to enter a competition that they have no chance of winning.

Feel for Inter, thought they defended admirably and coped well with the pressure of playing with just ten men. The loss of Cordoba is what turned the game; he was immense last night and Liverpool was practically impotent whilst he was still on the field. Can’t see them overturning it now, Stevie G’s strike was the killer blow.

thought liverpool vs inter was quite exciting actually, that said I only watched the second half, but quite an enjoyable watch. No doubt such a win will ease the pressure on benitez, despite the terrible performance in the league, perhaps stupidly.

More interesting games on tonight though one feels, for both Man Utd and Arsenal. Apparently AC Milan are missing their 1st and 2nd choice keeper, so the main thing for them is keeping Kaka quiet, if they can do taht then they may have a chance.
Man U game holds no interest, unless you’re a United fan. I'll be flicking between the Arsenal and Celtic game. Hoping Alexandre Pato plays.

though inter played well I thought Liverpool did deserve the win, they controlled the second half and almost certainly should have been awarded a penalty when vieira handled it. Barring one or two great saves from Julio Cesar it could easily have been 3 or 4 conceded. Inter gave the impression that they came to get a draw as well, even with materazzi on the field their general outset wasnt exactly positive (that said it isnt very often). Though Inter played well, I would say Liverpool fully warranted the win last night.

I'm stealing that, ironically enough.

I doubt they'd have played much differently if they'd had the full compliment tho.

There was an element of jam in Cowt's goal, but I always reckon when a team comes with the ambition only to contain they deserve what they get when they fail. How Vieira's handball wasn't a pen either is beyond me.

Bojan Krkic, who might line up against the Celts in the 2nd leg, scored 889 goals in 7 seasons for Barcas youth side. Fair effort.

Indeed but Inter’s set-up away from home usually follows the trait of initially sitting back, absorbing pressure and then going for it. They are traditionally not an out and out defensive side and don’t correspond to Catenaccio tactics.
Although, anyone who watched them yesterday would disagree but similarly anyone who watched Arsenal on the weekend would think they were a pub team.

There is a Milan fan on the United forums I visit, who unusually for a fan of another club isn't a troll and is one of the most knowledgable posters around. I know he's a Milan fan, but he said that Inter are the most over-rated side he's seen for a good few years, that they are less skillful than Milan and Roma but they kick their way to victory, and thus they find it very difficult when the referee is stricter on this.

A bit harsh on don't you think although i agree Milan/Gunners clash is the most inticing of this evening ecnounters. Lyon do have some excting players..

Interesting team & formation by United, looks like a 4-3-2-1 with Rooney all alone up front, i see Fergie & Capello of late believe Rooney has the game to play that role.

Love seeing that Milan mid-field trio of Guttuso/Pirlo/Ambrosini, will be monitoring the progress of Pato & Benzama this evening along with our on Lee Naylor who seems to be doign allright @ Celtic.

They are dirty for sure but they have scored a plethora of goals this season, far more than any other side in Serie A and that’s quite an achievement, especially with the likes of AS Roma around. I wouldn’t say Inter are an attractive side however, Roma play the best and most stylish football.

Sorry I thought Man U were at home, could be an interesting game. Haven’t seen much of Lyon this season so I don’t know if they still play gung-ho football or whether Alan Perrin’s side is more reserved than the Lyon sides we have seen in the past. Watch out for Ben Arfa, if he plays.

Yes, this is the gist of what he was saying, they're a good side, especially domestically, but highly over-rated and not likely to win the CL at all.

EDIT: Especially when the referee isn't lenient, as is often the case in Europe, such as last night, which was the key point.

Well they have the depth of squad to mount a challenge. I mean you look at their squad and aside from Chelsea no one has their reserve strength, Crespo, Samuel, Suazo, Cesar, Maniche, Jimenez the list is pretty endless in regard to their talent pool.

Just think they possibly still don't really know how to play in Europe, they seem far more reserved and resort to kicking when in doubt.
