It was a real shame to see Sri Lanka fold like they did. I'm an Aussie supporter who wants to see Sri Lanka come second and India last.
I think you will be waiting for years....India have spirit and play as a team...They fight hard ...SL fold like dominoes and they have this eternal fear of the Aussies...they struggle to come to terms against the might of the Aussies time after time...They are so damn lame to the point of being boring.

Pathetic captaincy by Jayawardene, have no slips and an edge goes through there and next ball put one in there. One should of been there in the first place.

Obviously as good as he is a batsman, tatical nous is not his strong point.
His Captaincy was very poor in this game...the fact that he failed to use 2-3 other spinning options he had in his Team to see if one of them could've delivered a wicket or too showed lack of initiative...as was his general malaise in allowing the Aussies to continue milking runs at 5-6 an over from over 28 till over 40 odd ....even as Murali struggled to get a wicket..

The fielding was just as pathetic in allowing the Aussies in particular Clarke, Hussey and Symmo to convert singles to two's and the failure to hit the stumps despite umpteen attempts was frustrating...the Fielding which was brilliant under Penney has definitely dropped several notches..

Yeah, but dont forget that Sri Lanka for Bracken are a team of bunny's. Something about the hair and alice band has them shaking in their boots while clutching on to their bats with trembling hands.
No offense but that does look a bit Ponsy...

In hindsight I am glad the game against India got washed out after India's innings , as I am now of the opinion SL would certainly have lost that one against India's decent seam attack and under lights -that target would've been a huge struggle for this weakling batting line up...

Tendulkar offers batting tips

"It [Tendulkar's advice] was very different from what you always hear from coaches. I mean what he said was practical, based on his own vast experience. He also told me when to take singles and twos and also when and how to accelerate, and so on and so forth. Believe me, it was very, very different from what we juniors hear from others almost every day."

Perhaps we need new coaches....

All well and good, but honestly, wouldn't Tendulkar be offerng these tips the minute they are in the squad?

When you have one of the greatest batsman of all time, and possibly the greatest limited overs batsman of all time, surely you'd want to pick his brain? I mean Gambhir has been in the Indian set up for how many years now? Uthappa was our bloody opener in the World Cup. Surely in something so important as the World Cup Sachin would have had a word to him? I know it says Rohit has sought Sachin's advice in the past, but still.

Not all great batsman are great coaches, but I don't even think the Indian set up is stupid enough not to have Tendulkar talking to the younger batsman the minute they are selected in the squad. Either this is a very un-newsworthy story, or Tendulkar's knowledge is being seriously underutilised.

I remember Lara having a chat with Raina during India's tour to WI (or was it when India, WI and Australia were in Malaysia).

Oh and LOL @ this coming from Sachin

Tendulkar has also advised the youngsters to opt for lighter bats on the bouncier pitches of Australia as it would allow them to move more quickly into position.
Basically its Sachin going "Kids, you're not quite as good as me. Use one of those light bats, and let the real men use the heavy stuff"

Jadeja was yesterday saying tendulkar has been offering tips since a long time to youngsters and he even offered tips to ganguly at one time but he is ever willing to take tips himself too from others(Juniors or seniors).
It is Just now the media has picked up on it as he is the only senior remaining in the team.

Sree in doubt, Cricinfo have mentioned the possibiliy of playing Chawla.

RP Singh still not fit? :(

Sreesanth looks unlikely as he has fever and so either of kumar or patel will be coming in for him.
There is also talk that India may drop Uthappa for chawla as he can trouble the aussies on the slowish MCG wicket.

RP is back in india already and recovering.Zaheer too.

Chawla will most probably be coming in as fifth bowler with either kumar or patel coming in as
the 4th bowler.

FFS RP returned to India too? Didn't he only do his hammy?

WTF is with our piss weak bowlers.

So talented, but their fitness is ****ting me.

Fair call if it was just the young ones, but even in the past you had Zaheer and Nehra (not that he was a loss) going down.

Add Munaf, Sree and RP to that list now.

Soon enough we'll have to recall Ganguly to open the bowling... again.

Perfect opportunity for Kumar and Chawla. Drop Uthappa here and you have an extremely deep batting lineup and bowling attack.

When did Chawla walk off his plane? Kidding - though has he gotten atleast a tour match?

Leery about dropping an extra batsman, because Yuvraj appears quite out of it. India does have Tendulkar and Sehwag as slow bowling options - and Sehwag may be in the zone, bowling wise.
