There's been reams of speculation on 'what could've been' between the Windies of the 80's and Australia of 2000s, or the Invincibles of '48 and Australia of 2000s, or Bodyline England and Australia of 2000s. Noting a pattern here? ![Tongue :p :p](/forum/images/smilies/original/tongue.gif)
Personally, I think there's a few undone scenarios here. FWIW, I would have crawled over broken glass to see a match between 1975 and 1980 between West Indies and South Africa, for the standard of cricket alone. Procter, Rice, van der Bijl and Peter Pollock vs. the four prong would have rendered it unmissable, let alone the batting on show. Moreover, the political tension in the air would have magnified the outcome for all concerned and piled an extra dimension onto the series. Like the 'grovel' series, except better. Wouldn't miss it for the world (though my delayed conception may play a part).
Thoughts? Anything else which just should have been?
