Disagree with some of the Hayden assessment on the previous page. Whilst we don't need anyone that much as we have what Pratyush calls, pretty damn good bench strength, he is one of our, if not our most valuable one-day batsman at the moment based on form of the past year. Would have his name down first on the batting sheet tbh.

Would go so far as to say that his recent peak would match anyones (or come close to) in the history of the game, especially given that it happened on the world stage and losing someone in such red hot form does hurt quite a bit. Though as said, that hurt is minimised by the amount of quality bats ready to replace him.

The question is however, whether the form was indicative of the player or if he'll revert to pre-2007 averageness.

The 'Gabba groundsmen should apply for saint-hood if there is a result in today's game. Because they're going to have to perform about 3 miracles for that to happen.

:(

Still, after having lived in OZ for a couple of years, Australia needs rain much more than just another cricket match.

The bloke on the radio says there will be showers on and off throughout the day. I hope that means we can at least start the match so SL can have a hit out before Sydney (btw Sydney ain't looking pretty either - showers forecast).

I'm sure there's a market for a giant tarpaulin to stretch over the cricket grounds of Australia...

It is somewhat ironic that in NZ (the land of the long grey cloud) a 20/20 hit about is scheduled with a fine forecast, whilst in Australia, which is much better for cricket, a 50 over traditional match will most likely be abandoned.

Nah there will be a game today. The match on Sunday I was certain we wouldn't get a full game, but it's more sunny today here in Brisbane and I think it will hold off for most of the day.

LOL don't trust you with your weather reports Mister Wright. Sadly you were Mister Wrong with the match on Sunday and I'm thinking you'll be wrong again today.

It'll most likely be a rain interrupted match. The scheduling is so stupid it's not funny. Why they seem to insist on playing the first mathes in Brisbane during the end of January, first week or 2 in February is beyond me. It's the time of the year in Brisbane where it's most likely to rain, schedule the Brisbane matches at the end of the series ffs.
