That move Test used to do need to be brought back, where he got them for like a Twist of fate but then they both spun around violently and the recipient got totally faceplanted, that move was gnarly.
always quite liked test actually, was a shame when he got fired about a year ago, I remember he cut a promo backstage that vince said was great, then he went out and did it in the ring and vince said it was crap, and then he got fired shortly after for some reason...

Wikipedia claims it was called the Test Drive, and it was a "rolling cutter". Can't remember it actually, sounds good though. Sounds like it would have been kinda similar to John Morrison's corkscrew neckbreaker (which really needs a proper name), which is also cool. Having said that, most things about Morrison are cool. His gimmick needs a bit of tweaking, but he's ready for a big push sometime soon.

Yeah I enjoyed Test as well, thought he was a pretty decent worker for a big bloke.

Anyway, managed to download the Rumble in about 30 mins so going to watch that now.

just realised the reason he was fired was for violation of the wellness program, fair enough I suppose.

I'm watching the Rumble now. I love the internet. :D Only just started though, you'll be pretty much in sync with me.

Yeah it was like...if you picture someone being set up for a reverse DDT a.k.a Stinger death drop, he'd get them like that, and then swing his free arm around and under them like a twist of fate, but instead of the guy just standing there and taking a neckbreaker, he'd rotate with Test so he ended up taking it on his face. And obviously, Test being a big bugger, they were usually spinning pretty fast when they hit the floor, so it looked awesome.

And haha epic, yeah gotta love the internets. Hope yours is as good quality as mine is, looks to be HD here :)

Mine's streaming, so it's not great quality. Can't wait until the time when I finally get to watch some WWE HD though, that'll be great.

haha tell you whats really stupid, the fact that for some reason wwe isnt available in HD in the UK at the moment, hell knows why, but when I switched on Sky last thursday to watch raw (and my sky is skyHD on an HD tv) I received a message along the bottom of the screen saying "WWE broadcasts are not available in HD in UK at this time", kind of sucks tbh, cant understand why we cant get it...

That does suck. With any luck they'll be upgrading it soon.

Is HDTV really that much better? I've never seen it in any shape or form.

Took a couple of screenies from different PPV's I've got on my PC just to show the difference a little bit. Both of these videos are the same size as well which makes the quality difference even more apparent.

non-HD

HD!

And obviously it's a lot smoother in actual motion, trying to take a clear screenshot of wrestling on VLC is hard 'cause of all the motion and it not being designed to take perfect screens, so yeah.

Barney Rubble

International Coach
Yeah, I can see the difference actually. And as you say, both those pictures aren't perfect stills so it's gonna be a lot better in actual motion. What I notice about the HD one is the strength of the colours - looks a lot less faded.

It is a rip off that the winner of Rumble doesn't automatically face the champion at Mania. They sold the Rumble PPV harping on the point that they will and once they got the money, they change tracks. Don't like this aspect as it builds on some thing and doesn't deliver it and is a bit cheap.

Didn't like Raw at all. So many doubles matches. WTF. One of the poorer bookings I have seen on Raw in recent times. What I loved was Cena being bashed by the crowd a lot. A "Cena sucks" chant spree was too difficult to ignore for Cena.

With Sledger that it will be great if Hardy wins the Elimination Chamber and then goes on to win the title at Mania but as you say, it is a bit unlikely.

Also, will be great if they do have an "I Quit" Kennedy v Flair match as the Flair ender at Mania (excellent suggestion Rubble). Will push Kennedy immensely. Also, on what you said about midcards, can definitely see Jericho and Michaels in the mid card for a while.

Was thinking over the Rumble and one thing which doesn't sit well with me is not many surprise exits by lesser superstars of the bigger names. What surprises did we have? Shelton Benjamin and Khali exiting fast and not much else. Heh. Some thing which should have been expected the way the WWE hierarchy and order of things works but it irks me. They did give some of the younger guys some good spots which was at least good.

I liked the fact that John Morrison lasted the second-longest, but I couldn't stand the fact that the last four were Cena, Batista, HHH, and Kane. Great, if they're gonna give Kane a push, but they're clearly not. At least one of the last four should have been a youngster, or at the very least a midcarder.

yes imo, its very noticeable, but at the same time i'm not really fussed with that sort of thing, i'm lucky enough to have it at home at the moment, but I wouldnt pay the extra myself to get it, but thats just me. The times I notice it most are when watching football or cricket really, never notice on movies, but when watching a sport of some sort the picture is much improved.

how did foley do in the rumble? and who eliminated him? as his big new angle will probably start sometime soon, whatever that may be......

Just got done watching the PPV, overall I really enjoyed it, but I always do. Royal Rumble is always one of my favourite events of the year.

General thoughts as follows:

MVP/Flair was a good opener, quite enjoyed it although it was ruined a bit for me by the ****e commentating. Michael Cole apparently doesn't care for Coach because he was burying him and it was really annoying.

JBL/Jericho, for reasons unbeknownst to me, I was really into. I loved the look on JBL's face when he came out and the slow buildup to the match and yeah, I just got well into it. Right up until JBL botched the bulldog and the crowd farted on it, which took something away from what was a class match up to that point. Really enjoyed it overall.

Edge/Mysterio was pretty good to watch, not my favourite match of the night but it was okay. Rey Rey seems to be uncomfortable doing spots with his knee and a few things were botched and it ruined the pacing and excitment for mine.

Hardy/Orton was my least favourite match of the night, for some reason. Don't know why but I just couldn't get into it at all. Though I usually always get like that with the last main event on a PPV so yeah. The Twist of Fate into RKO counter was awesome, though.

As for the Rumble itself, I loved it. Marked out so many times, SUPER, SUPER, SUPERFLY! I was loving it. Favourite elimination was when Kane just booted Morrison right in his face and he went flying into the guard rail, looked so brutal.

Again not really sure why, especially when I knew it was coming, but I marked out so hard for Cena. Just loved the way it happened and loved the faceoff between Cena, HHH and Batista.

Thought the young guys came across really well in the Rumble personally, sure they weren't the ones in the last four (apart from Cena) but most of the best spots and stuff were done by the young guys and things look promising. Shelton is a psychopath, love him so much. Needs to get a big push for mine. Anyway yeah, really enjoyable event, glad I got ahold of it. Wrestlemania shaping up to be pretty interesting.

He did alright IIRC, came in at 21, don't think he eliminated anyone though. Triple H eliminated him and Elijah Burke at the same time. He didn't really do anything of note whatsoever.

Just finishing it myself, got held up. The matches were good, and the Rumble has been good too. You're right about the mark out moments, I really wish I hadn't known who won before I watched it - wasn't sure if I'd get time to see it any time soon so I just looked on WWE.com to see who won. Would have been great had I not known beforehand.

this relentless booing of cena is actually beginning to really grate with me....I wish the fans would get off his back, to begin with its clear he goes out and really busts his ass to put on the best show he can, and to work recover from his injury in such a short space of time shows a real dedication that lots of other guys on the roster simply would not have the drive for, and tbh I really dont think his ring work is bad at all, granted he's not technically gifted like angle/benoit/eddie etc... but he's no slouch and his moveset isnt bad at all, better than chinlock orton for example. Gah, another thing I dont understand is where all this animosity came from, for example for about 5 months after winning the WWE title he continued to get the biggest pops in the entire company, during his feud with Y2J he got massive ovations and Jericho got loads of real heat, for instance when Jericho did his last RAW show he was pretty much booed off the set, just all of a sudden around new years revolution a few months later the fans seemed to turn, just dont get it, struck me as being very fickle, and picky, as he is no way the worst superstar to ever hold that title.

Yeah, totally agree with all that. Heard someone claim a while back that having Cena and Orton face off against each other for the title was "the lowest point in the history of the company", which is just ridiculous. It's become fashionable to hate on Cena, and that's the only reason I can think of why the boos have become so widespread. Of course, it's partly to do with the fact that the WWE book him like Superman, but that's not his fault. I think the next time he gets to have a feud that doesn't revolve around the WWE title, we'll see how good Cena really is, 'cause he'll get to show his mic skills a bit more, and they won't have to put him over every week.
