It was a valuable wicket - one which probably ensure a draw, rather than it just being themost likely outcome. ironically, he hit the ball about as well as he has all summer.

90 minutes of Gilchrist there would have been real trouble for India. Great spell here from Sharma again.

I am happy the Indians gave him an ovation, but I really think they should have walked over and shook his hand as well. It would have been a nice show of respect for the most sporting guy in the Aussie team.
I thought they did the right thing. They didn't celebrate the wicket and they all just clapped him off. I hope Kevin Pietersen was taking notes, as his celebration in dismissing Lara in his final innings was way over the top.

Sharma shook his hands as did one of the others. He just walked off quickly ,so it was tough to reach him.
If only if RP had not been injured.

Absolutely mate I agree fully but??? how can you say the below?
Also how well do you know Symonds exactly?
I also dont love every player but to call them the worst bloke ever etc is a bit much I would have thought personally.

Muralitharan: The most overrated bowler of all time.
Warne: The second most overrated bowler of all time.

Haha. It is permissible for you to dislike a player.

Bit of a sad moment, but I thought the Indian players were good about it. Maybe we'll get to see him bat tomorrow, who knows.

Sharma seems a good sort with a fair head on his shoulders for a 19yo.
I hope India can build their team around him & RP for a few years to come.
It almost looked to me like Sehwag regretted being the one to take the catch :P

"Adam Gilchrist is one of the greatest entertainers ever to grace a cricket ground anywhere in the world. You know when he enters the ground to bat you are about to see a show. Even when he gets out early it is usually doing something flashy. The cricket world will be poorer for his retirement but it has been richer for having been able to witness his awesome skill with both bat and gloves," says Kym.

This guy at cricinfo said it very well IMO.

I noticed that after taking the catch Virender Sehwag just started applauding Gilchrist, and Ishant Sharma also ran in to shake his hand, which was a nice touch.
