Gilchrist goes out as one of the greatest batsmen of all time; one of the greatest glovesmen of all time; and the greatest to combine both.

I kinda had an inkling...He's been average in the last couple of Tests and this is the last Test of the summer...so it's not unexpected, but very sad and it's going to be hard to imagine an Aussie team without the great man :(

The greatest ever wicket-keeper batsman who leaves behind a huge legacy and a fantastic career. He will be sorely missed.

Definatly going after the CB Series. Hope the Indians do a Guard of Honour when he walks out to bat. If there is any sort of sportsmanship left, then it is this.

Hopefully no wild celebrations when they dismiss him either. I was a bit disappointed with Pietersen's reaction when he got Lara run out in his last International dig ever.

Such a shame another great has to retire. He will be sorely missed by Australia and the world, a true all-round cricketer and strong personality as a person.

Oh man, it's harsh that it's during this test that he's announced it. He deserves a proper send off and a full test, but I guess it's another year before Australia plays a home test.

I really hope he makes some runs tomorrow.

One of the greats. He is the sort of player that we will wax on about in 40 years to people who never saw him. A privelage to watch.

I wonder if the news can inspire the Australians, they certainly seem to have lost some of the winning edge (in this match at least) so to speak and look just a tiny bit flat (relative to usual) as a result of the end of a hectic series so this might be the catalyst for them to hit out tomorrow, knock of the runs quickly, get a lead and bowl flat out in one last roll of the dice.

Odds:
Draw - 1.16
Australia - 6.50
India - 11.00
