Hopes opening the batting for Australia, Vassy likes.
Probably a good looking squad after this series - I have a hunch that Gilly will call it a day, but as you say, the time is right for Haddin to come in. Your XI is pretty much spot on and considering what we saw in the 20/20, 12-14 seems fine too with a bit of conjecture placed on 15, more than likely to be Pomersbach - Australia really don't have a tradition of debuting 30+ y.o.My 15 man Australian squad.
I've decided to not play Gilly. He's been brilliant, but I think the time is right for Haddin.
I think 3 to 6 has to be Ponting, Clarke, Symonds, Hussey so that just leaves the opening spot and 7 for our all rounder in Hopes and keeper in Haddin. Haddin opening hasn't really performed so that's why I picked him at 7.
The last batting spot I've ended up picking Dave Hussey. He does deserve it, narrowly ahead of Luke Pomersbach.

What the ****? Dropping Ganguly, that has to be one of the stupidest decisions in recent times. India want a slick fielding side, obviously, but do they not care for the runs Ganguly has been making?
WTF!!!
Ganguly had scores of 51,86 and 0 in the 3 ODI matches he played against australia some 70 days back. The selectors have sowed the seeds of another controversy. I wonder what motivation will Saurav,Dravid and laxman have when they go to Adelaide. Remember these 3 along with sachin were the only ones who have scored runs in this test series.
Uhh, try waiting a few days to find out why he was dropped before getting so worked up over this. Don't be surprised if he retires soon. Even if it had nothing to do with Ganguly retiring, yes it's unfair on Ganguly but from a team perspective I'll still support the move. It's time to give the younger batsmen a chance to settle down before we need to rely on them in test cricket. It was stupid to not have Sewang and pathan in the first tests and its equally stupid to drop one of their best and most experienced ODI players who is actually in great form. Whats up with the moronic Indian selectors? Trying to look smart and knowing better than everyone probably and just screwing up, I think.
I was leaning towards Sehwag in Sydney, and can understand why people wanted him in Melbourne, but honestly who would you have had out for Pathan in Melbourne? It was stupid to not have Sewang and pathan in the first tests and its equally stupid to drop one of their best and most experienced ODI players who is actually in great form. Why? It is a very poor decision. India want to blood youngsters, so they drop the man who has been making so many runs in ODI cricket lately. The reasoning is this;Uhh, try waiting a few days to find out why he was dropped before getting so worked up over this. Don't be surprised if he retires soon.
Which, quite frankly, is ****.cricinfo said:Explaining the reasons behind ignoring Ganguly and Dravid, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said, "The emphasis was on fielding abilities and they wanted a young fielding side for the series. That's why you see a lot of youngsters in the side."
He's not saying either. He's speaking in retrospect and I'm sure he wouldn't have picked Pathan for the first test either. Nobody sane would.I was leaning towards Sehwag in Sydney, and can understand why people wanted him in Melbourne, but honestly who would you have had out for Pathan in Melbourne?
You can't honestly say Yuvraj, because going into the first test vs. Australia in Melbourne with 5 bowlers would have been silly. So you're either saying he should have played ahead of Harbhajan, or RP Singh.
I don't think he is.He's not saying either. He's speaking in retrospect and I'm sure he wouldn't have picked Pathan for the first test either. Nobody sane would.
You want your best batsmen facing as many balls as possible in OD cricket. Hopes isn't in the best 15 One Day batsmen in Australia. My 15 man Australian squad.

Haha, I know he's telling you that. I'm implying that it's a bunch of bull.I don't think he is.
He's criticising the selectors for not having Pathan in Melbourne. That's saying he would have played him.
Can't see how Hopes making his runs at a good clip will be too much of a problem. You want your best batsmen facing as many balls as possible in OD cricket. Hopes isn't in the best 15 One Day batsmen in Australia.
That's fine. The move may be unfair on Dravid and Ganguly but I think it's fine for Indian cricket.Why? It is a very poor decision. India want to blood youngsters, so they drop the man who has been making so many runs in ODI cricket lately. The reasoning is this;

How? Basically you are sacrificing plenty of runs from the blade or Dravid or Ganguly to ensure you stop maybe 5-10 runs in the field, which is a generous amount that one person would save. That's fine. The move may be unfair on Dravid and Ganguly but I think it's fine for Indian cricket.
No, you're not necessarily sacrificing runs because you don't know how Raina and Sharma will do. Look, if I was the selector (unless Dravid, Ganguly plan to retire now) I wouldn't have dropped these two. All I'm saying is that there are positives to them being dropped and it's not as bad as it's being made out to be. The unfortunate part is that there are two wasted spots in Sehwag and Karthik. How?
