The doctor could play a part though, better off having a swing/seam bowlers at one end and the out and out quicks at the other end.

Although it's a shame that Kato missed out (I think thats the end of any possible recall).
Was never really in contention, though.
I hope he wasn't. If he'd played and opened now that'd probably just have soured his reputation still further.

I hope Katich plays again, but as a middle-order batsman - doing a Ramprakash would be the very worst thing he could do (as it was when Ramprakash himself did).

Has to be Tait imo, they're crazy if he doesn't.
Didn't during his two tests in England, one where Kaspa was the other bowler. Given Johnson has taken the new ball all series, I say he still will. Tait to come in after Lee's spell.

Tait's already played test cricket.

Good to see Rogers getting a go; I'm a fan and was hoping he'd play ahead of Jaques before he got ill actually. Although it's a shame that Kato missed out (I think thats the end of any possible recall).
Someone mentioned in today's paper that they should have given the spot to Katich ahead of Rogers given that it will only be for one test and Katich is used to getting dropped.

Ordinarily I'd agree that's what they're planning but Ponting has been making all sorts of noises about using Tait in the same way as he did in the WC; short spells. Especially if it's hot, he may be tempted to bowl Tait a few with the new rock, use Johnson and Clarke when the ball is still relatively new and then bring back Tait when it starts to reverse.

Well that went well on the opening day...

Not that I'd imagine Hogg would have done better, at all, mind.

Why would they put all that effort into developing Johnson and giving him the new ball in his debut game and the next three tests to not have him opening the bowling? He played, so he had to open the bowling.

Tait's hot or cold. Obviously cold today. He was bowling to class batsman, if he was bowling to QLD batsman every day he'd take a mountain of wickets. Hogg's useless, personally I think it was worth the gamble because Tait on a good day can rip through a side, Hogg on his can't.

I hope Tait picks up at least 2 of the last 4 wickets because he deserves some credibility. Lee has really flourished as a world-class bowler imo and he will be handy for the next 3-4 years imo.
