***Official*** West Indies in Zimbabwe and South Africa

Protean

State Regular
beautiful finishing up by steyn. SA really played well this game, a deserved win and a nice way to send Shaun Pollock off.

Positives for WI:

Samuel's is applying himself.

Negatives:

They lack a strike bowler.

Ryan or Wavell Hinds? Both have pretty good domestic records.
Ryan Hinds needs to sort out his attitude and Wavell Hinds is just as frustrating as Runako Morton, if slightly more likely to score runs.
I'm surprised that Kieron Pollard hasn't been called up to the squad, given how desperate the West Indies appear to be.
West Indies is not desperate enough to ruin a young man still learning the game. The selectors make a lot of mistakes, but they've handled Pollard well thus far, and thankfully too. He needs at least one more full season of good cricket before he should get a look-in.
Sarwan is in good touch back home though, so he'll be back in the side for the next series, possibly even the ODI games against South Africa.
The squad was named after Sarwan scored his first round century for Guyana. Sarwan was not in it. I don't see why the selectors would add him now if they didn't add him then.

Almost every home three match series South Africa will lose one test, and win the other two. At least that's their emerging pattern recently.

So many results on SA wickets. Love it.

What problems has Ryan Hinds actually had with his attitude? Indiscipline? Wavell Hinds has actually had a reasonable Test career, averages in the low 30's, and has a number of decent scores. Whilst consistency isn't a strong, he's a better option than Runako Morton, who just looks terrible and doesn't score many. I do feel sorry for him in a way, as he was 70* against New Zealand when the game was abandoned due to rain. If he'd been able to turn that score into a century, then who knows.

I agree with what you're saying, and I'm glad that Pollard hasn't been rushed into the national side. Still, it wouldn't have surprised me if he did get the call-up.

I wasn't aware of the timing of the squad announcement. Seems odd though, especially when an in-form Sarwan could be the difference between winning and losing the ODI series.

Awesome to see Marlon Samuels doing well, I'm a big supporter of his. Disappointed that Bravo couldn't push on and score a century too, because he was looking pretty good when I was watching.

Still can't beleive how well Dale Steyn is doing. Admittedly it was a fairly mediocre batting line-up, but he's not operating at full fitness and still manages to take 7 wickets in the match. Nel was again very poor, and shouldn't be in the side. It's just getting silly now.

Shhhh. Richard might hear you.

That said, if there's any justice in this world, Lee will finish off with a far better record than Nel.

There's every possibility that Steyn will end up with a record similar to Donald's. Of course, too early to say anything now.
