The Cricket Web Football Association has secured a link with New Zealand Football to promote the game within CWLand and the region.
This link will be in the form of 3 games to be played in the pre-season.
1) Winners of CW Premiership versus Winners of New Zealand Football Championship.
This will be East Coast Fury versus Auckland City to be played at Kiwitea Street, Auckland. Originally Fury were supposed to play Asian Champs, Urawa Reds of Japan, but they are unavailable and in the efforts to build a partnership with NZ Football it was replaced by this fixture.
2) CW Under 20s versus NZ Under 20s
Under 20s is the youth format used in the region and this is an opportunity for younger players to get exposure to the international game. The game will be played in CWLand and CW U'20s will be captained by Håkon Mørk.
3) NZ versus CW.
This International friendly game will be played North Harbour Stadium, Auckland and will be CWLands biggest football challenge so far. A captain has yet to be decided.
Pre-Season Cup
In addition to those 3 games there will be the CW Pre-Season Cup. It will follow roughly the same format of last seasons Pre-season tournament.
Teams will be split into 2 groups. Each will play members of their own group home and away. The top team from each group will play in the final.
Group A
East Coast Fury
Northern Power
Southern Dynamo
Group B
Island Swell
Central United
Nixontown Nomads
more to come...
