Andrew Symonds as a Test cricketer?

Is Andrew Symonds now good enough at Test level?

Symonds in any other country probably would have been given a game a lot earlier, when he wasn't ready, and wouldn't have been able/allowed to find the time to mature.
Yeah, I'd agree there. If he'd have thrown his lot in with us he'd have probably played test cricket 7 or 8 years earlier than he did and would've been dropped half-a-dozen times too. IIRC Illingworth selected him for an "A" tour in 1995/6, which he politely declined.

Well, I wouldn't say all of it is, but surely you can only speak for yourself, Rich?
I'm the most famous Hayden-basher on here, though, and I'm reasonably well-versed in the similar arguments of my fellows. Which, gobsmackingly enough, are pretty much the same as mine. :-O
How are you, mate? :)
All the better for having you back on the forum, naturally. :) As I mentioned somewhere.

PS - no Prince? :-O

PSS - I'm sure you won't want to be catching-up on everything in the time since your last activities, but don't miss this. And please dig if you wish.

Missed this earlier - it feels a bit indulgent to bump the thread (I feel guilty for not responding to everybody who said hello to me individually, but it's for the same reason) but I very much appreciate your mentioning me in creating the thread AND everyone who wished me a happy birthday. Cheers, mate. :)
