Smashing innings from Smith, I really hope he can get some form back. Some brutal shots by Kallis as well, love him when he goes on the rampage. I was most impressed with Chris Gayle, though, two great catches and a big grin. And Prince got a well-deserved Man of the Match award.

Monde Zondeki has been brought in as cover for Dale Steyn. So Shaun Pollock will only play in front of Andre Nel or Paul Harris, if it is a greentop.

Why? I don't see the logic of using someone that out of form when AB is perfectly capable of opening. Would have been much more sensible to bring in a middle order player.

Gayle was very good. Have to feel for him though, guy has a broken finger, couldn't move without discomfort yet he comes out to bat, gives his side a more than competitive total and then his bowlers let him down badly.
South Africa should have been made to work for 186 but criminally the West Indies bowlers made it a walk in the park for them.

Wasn't happy with Nel's bowling, will almost assuredly keep him in the side for a few more games. Why has nobody else been questioning his place in the side, despite him being very poor for a little while now?
Shiv again standing up, what a legend. Gutted that McKenzie was injured though, he looked really good in the first innings. Will there be some kind of investigation launched into all the injuries? It's no coincidence that the outfield was so poor and a few players injured their legs.

When one considers Nel was bowling to the likes of Ganga, Ramdin, Samuels and Morton, four cricketers who are all average to poor internationally, then it really isn’t that hard to look impressive. As soon as Chris Gayle appeared the real Andre Nel emerged and was subsequently dispatched all around Newlands. Dale Steyn bowled off a shortened run up at only 75mph all second innings and still looked a different class.
Although, saying that Nel maybe needed for Kingsmead, wicket has had some pace and bounce this year and Nel is likely to be more threatening to the West Indian batsman than a wicket to wicket Pollock, who would have been in his element at Cape Town.
In regard to Chanderpaul... The West Indies have to push him up the order to three. Coming in at five when the horse has already bolted is ridiculous, all it enforces Chanderpaul to do is play for a not out. He should have gone down swinging today, not let Taylor, Edwards and his captain attempt do it all alone.
