FFS, what has good bowling got to do with him standing his ground after clearly getting out or him shouldering arms to a straight incoming delivery. :@
Well, fair enough, I suppose. The first dismissal was a mistake on his part due to poor judgement, but the second (though I did not see it) sounds to me like he did not read it (thats good bowling,no?).

In any case, my point was that Clarke hardly needs a rest - if anything, the Indians do.

It just looked out when I saw it in real time. The stride obviously saved him but those have been given plenty of times before.

That means you'd have had the correct decision 1 time out of 100. Some umpire you'd make.
That type of ratio hasn't stopped big Steve from making it to the top. If I were Hoggy I'd seriously consider umpiring as a career pathway.

Guys i am not defending McGrath for what he said his comment was pathetic, but it wasn't as if McGrath said something about Sarwan's mother or some other relative, if Sarwan would have said anything nasty about McGrath then it would have been tit for tat, but by dragging Jane into the middle of this he surely made the whole thing very disgusting, it wasn't as if Jane had said something to Sarwan.

oh my....what a gripping day of test cricket!! wow!

great stuff...
if you asked me Aussies would only lose 4 wickets today, i'd be quite surprised.. although they probably scored 30-40 less coz of rain/light etc.

so what do you guys think Aussies need to get (the lead) to be in the safe zone? (10am start tomoz)
i reckon 340

Hawkeye's a piece of ****, gotta pay it. 4th day SCG wicket, with already a few balls failing to bounce over stump height from a good length.
But the ball was rising reasonably sharply, and Hawkeye is only taking the trajectory from the pitch to the pad into consideration so the pitch has nothing to do with it.

300-320 would be game on big time. Any more than that would take too long to set and India would just shut up shop.

Nothing in that conversation was racial. McGrath was referring to a fellow teammate but Sarwan broke the wall by dragging Jane into it, exactly right. Jane should not have been mentioned in the first place.

Bucknor's got an unhealthy obsession with the light. 8-)

Hope we get a full day tomorrow - rain rain stay away.

I would like to think we can bowl the Indians out but depends on what kind of total we set and what kind of mindset they'll adapt to in order to achieve the total.

Homophobic is just as bad as racial or familial, and Pidge's remarks were very much as out of order as Sarwan's. Pidge is the one who brought it down to that level in the first place, he shouldn't have blown a gasket like he did.

Depends on what type of start they get. If Jaffer and Rahul start well, India may have a tilt late on in the day, but I'm not too confident in either of our openers right now.

Australia's to lose IMO.

Ok I agree with you to a point where we must know what McGrath really meant. Look at the facts - at that time Lara was clearly the West Indies' best batsman, followed by Sarwan (you'll find many will agree with this). McGrath's comments were very wrong and he should not have said it that way but I think you would find it would be the same as saying ''How does it feel to play second fiddle to Brian Lara?" McGrath still made the idiotic mistake of referring to it in a homophobic.

It's as much to do with the manner in which he said it. He was trying to be a smart arse and copped a smart arse response he wasn't ready for.

I don't think it even crossed into Sarwan's mind the problems Jane has been having, I just think it was a puerile exchange which could've been laughed off if Pidge hadn't gone loco.

Great, now that we've resolved the McGrath-Sarwan incident from the late-90s, any chance of talking about the cricket occuring in 2008. Get your own thread if you want to keep on talking about historical incidents.

Forecast for morning clouds, light rain later on. Should get a solid day's play in tommorow.
