Ok I agree with you to a point where we must know what McGrath really meant. Look at the facts - at that time Lara was clearly the West Indies' best batsman, followed by Sarwan (you'll find many will agree with this). McGrath's comments were very wrong and he should not have said it that way but I think you would find it would be the same as saying ''How does it feel to play second fiddle to Brian Lara?" McGrath still made the idiotic mistake of referring to it in a homophobic.
It's as much to do with the manner in which he said it. He was trying to be a smart arse and copped a smart arse response he wasn't ready for.
