Again good to see Samuels notching up a few runs. Fell asleep not long after lunch though, so didn't get to see a great deal of Chanderpaul's innings.
The outfield is awful - top shots that deserve four slow up and the batsman ends up getting only two. I walked around on it yesterday during lunch, and our front lawn is in better condition than that outfield. One of the pitches that isn't being used has got huge chunks of grass missing as well. From the commentary I have read, I conclude the slow outfield has cost the Windies more than 50 runs. Is the outfield today as bad as it was yesterday? If so, the 243 might very well prove to be a tougher target than it appears. I really like to see a real fight out there that keeps exciting until the last day. That's still a fair possibility!
But you've seen Baugh bat at Test level right? Domestic stats mean nothing when you're that terrible in the big show. Can't see how Patrick Browne is higher in the pecking order than Carlton Baugh. The stats back up Baugh.
Bastmen improve and anyway Baugh should be next in line to Ramdin. If he fails then Browne should come into contention then. Doesn't make sense for him to improve his keeping, and it has, because it wasn't up to scratch and he still performs with the bat but can't get a look. But you've seen Baugh bat at Test level right? Yeah injured. How's Edwards doing? Is he out of the test?
Carlton Baugh has shown no evidence of improvement and does not deserve to be picked for West Indies right now. Hell, he averaged less than 15 last FC season! One half-century in 9 innings. The season before that he had 1 half-century in 10 innings and averaged 23podd! For a guy who is far from a brilliant gloveman, that's hardly awe-inspiring. TBH you're right about his batting. Must have been thinking of something else. Anyway, read that he's on the same level of keeping with Browne and Ramdin so not much there. Not saying he'll do well but he should still be ahead of Browne in terms of replacing Ramdin.Carlton Baugh has shown no evidence of improvement and does not deserve to be picked for West Indies right now. Baugh has fallen away from his early promise and I wait to see what he can do this season to salvage his career. Patrick Browne hasn't been much better, but from all I've read and seen of him, he's a much better wicketkeeper.
