I don't get why we don't just convert guys that sign up as spin bowling all rounder, straight into batsmen that bowl spin.

It's not fair to change a player type without consent. That's why we inform them of shortages and give them the option to convert. We don't convert (intentionally) without giving them a choice.

Some people are successful with it, like Tarick and a few others. And then some of them are a bag of ****, like I was

The best I can do is turn you into a specialist batsman with very occasional spin.
