Tasmanian captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and elected to bat first. WA had the best possible start, with Dorey trapping Paine LBW with only 14 runs on the board. Tasmania lost new recruit Arnberger, before Ponting and Di Venuto went about building a solid target for WA. Magoffin held a steady line and was the best of the WA bowlers.

Western Australia started rapidly, with Gilchrist and Langer punishing the Tasmanian opening bowlers. Langer fell, but Gilchrist continued on. Gilchrist's only solid support came in the form of all-rounder Dave Bandy, but when he fell, the task was just too much for even Gilchrist to handle on his own.

Tasmania slumped to 4/15 after Dan Marsh won the toss and elected to bat first. Matthew Inness was the main destroyer, he kept the slips cordon on their toes with a pure display of left arm swing bowling. Inness finished with 6/87 as Tasmania crept to 259.

Western Australia had a solid start to their innings, Justin Langer leading the way to 2/111, but some good consistent bowling from Tasmania saw WA lose 6/79 and slump to 8/190. Dangerman Luke Ronchi, still at the crease, set about saving the WA innings with some lusty boundaries, he was well supported by Magoffin. After Magoffin fell to a snakey delivery from Griffith, first innings bowling hero Matthew Inness joined Luke Ronchi at the crease, what was to follow was history. The two put on an amazing 197 for the last wicket. Ronchi was finally dismissed for 196, with Inness remaining 62*.

Tasmania batted again with the knowledge they'd have to play out of their skin to set WA any sort of a target. Dorey saw that they didn't, running through their top order with a series of devastating cutters.

Davis showed his worth as WA reached Tasmania's target with ease.

It's better than I expected, does get a bit easy from time to time. Still, it's the only Aus domestic sim out there.

Western Australia's innings got off to a good start, the opening partnership was worth 100 off just 16.5 overs when Langer fell. Ronchi continued on, but was eventually slowed by some magnificient limited overs bowling from the Victorian attack, led by "spinner" Cameron White, the attack hardly gave a run away in the last 20 overs. Marcus North was a valuable contributor to the modest WA target.

Luke Ronchi's knock was not enough

Inness kicked off the Victorian innings by removing the two openers relatively quickly, Dorey also picked up the pinch-hitter McGain to have Victoria in some trouble at 3/51. It was all downhill after that for Western Australia, as the established Victorian middle order took them comfortably home.

How the **** did the Vics get Bray?!! Is it just a coincidence that he's playing cricket in Victoria this year?
