And our Sobers incarnate gets a blow on the hand. Life looking pretty usual for West Indies now. It's the moment for Ramdin to prove his worth though.

A bit harsh on West Indies there. South Africa playing absolutely horribly? Small difference between that and being outplayed.
Had a feeling someone would say that after my post.

Fair enough though, WI have been excellent this test. I still think South Africa batted badly. You shouldn't be bowled out for under 200 in your first innings on this pitch IMO.

And IMO WI losing wickets here (though I'd rather them be 5 down with Chanderpaul still there) is better for them in the long run. The draw is out of the equation now. Its either a WI or SA win, and if they can crawl to 390-400 I reckon they'll win.

I know SA are a different team, and you're probably going to get them out with them playing for a draw rather than a win, but WI need to win this test, and the fact that a draw is out of the equation makes it game on early, and if they snag Smith early, the pressure will be really on Kallis to see them through. And 400 isn't an easy total to 'see a team through to'.

390-400 is a long way off given the batting after the current pair. Would much prefer 450+ given how much time is left.

Since you're a WI fan, that's perfectly understandable.

However as a neutral (though I am cheering on WI) 390-400, though as you said far off, sets the game up wonderfully, and is still enough IMO. Chanderpaul's wicket was the big one.

Really, and I know its obvious to say, but WI just need to bowl well though. If they are horrible than SA are more than a chance atm.

Will be tragic if WI lose from here mind you.

Yea, 40 more runs and you cross that psychological 400 barrier. That's a tough ask for the tail, but some shut-your-eyes-and-swing hitting may take them there.

Ramdin gone, & WI might be better off declaring and having a few overs at SA before the close.

I'm clinging onto a miracle here... I actually think the WI nearly getting bowled out will work in their favour and give them more time to bowl us out..

I'm just gutted I'm not actually watching this test at the ground, miss it soo much :(

Can't see the last two wickets adding much more than a dozen or so, so SA will probably be chasing 370-ish. Doable & made for a Kallis special IMHO.

If it's less than 400 to chase I might bung a cheeky quid or two on your boys, depending on the odds.

Important second innings in the Test Career of H.Gibbs I feel. If he makes another failure he could be a chance of missing out in the next Test.

I'm not really sure of many players who could open apart from AB De Villiers and possibly Dippenaar. Anyone else think he's close to getting dropped?

There has been a lot of talk about McKenzie opening of late.

McKenzie hey, that would be an interesting choice. I liked the looks of him, I also like Gibbs though when in form.

I thought Gibbs was doing quite a good job in the middle order, why does he have to open again?

I don't Amla Kallis Prince is a balanced middle order either despite the first two going great in the recent series against NZ.

Amla has improved his technique a lot lately, but I still don't really think he's test standard. If I was picking a team from scratch, he wouldn't be in it, but it'd be hard to drop him. Prince hasn't been in the greatest form lately but he's a good test batsman and really shouldn't be dropped IMO. Kallis is obviously Kallis.

I really don't know about McKenzie opening. I'd be tempted to bat him at 3 or 4 if Amla started failing again, but I don't think I'd open with him. Dippenaar's the obvious choice based on domestic form and what have you but, as much as I'm a fan of the guy, he's been tried and failed at test level.

Rudolph is very much missed. I can't believe he was dropped in the first place though, really.
