They both won four gold at LA Olympics 8-) Kiwi humour, I must have been told that a dozen times from the Kiwis at school that year (yes i am that old:-O )
We've gone terribly backwards since then at the Olympics.

Anyway, back to the cricket.

Got back from the ground.

India look a beaten side when they took the field this afternoon. Maybe got a couple of unlucky calls from the umpires but they were struggling to adapt to the pitch, when Lee and Clark were bowling, Hogg and Johnson did not bowl particularly well which makes India's score even more disappointing. They should have been able to see off the 2 bowling well more effectively and made more runs off the rest of the bowling line up.

India are no chance from here.

i thought all our 4 bowlers bowled well

Hogg got hit a bit but i put that to good batting.. 10 and Ganguly .. two terrific players of spin.. thought it was good balls that were hit for four and six rather than bad balls

and Midge was very tight and looked pretty threatening all day

Until you've faced 130 on the bowling machine I don't think you can appreciate how tough it is to face someone bowling that fast. But then again, I'm not a test match batsman and not expected to score runs off someone bowling that quick.
I've faced 130+ in a game, by the time I saw it there were stumps everywhere

Lee and Clark was just brilliant today. Honestly, what more could you want from two bowlers? Johnson looked pretty unthreatening for a lot of it, but admittedly had chances. And I thought Hogg was really good to be honest. Wow - he got some tap from SRT. He also regularly troubled every other batsman. Ganguly was lucky to not get stumped walking down the pitch before Hogg had even bowled it and payed the consequences anyway. For India, Sachin and Ganguly looked really good. But that's it.

All in all, exceptional bowling from Australia. I do like a good cricket match, but I also like Ganguly and Harbhajan pwnage.

Seen a few people say this and I gotta say, I think Midge's spells today were vastly under-rated. He only occasionally went wide of the stumps and it really underlines how tough it is to draw chances from a bloke who's hell-bent on total defence. His areas were largely spot-on and on another day, he'd have 3-fer. Had the first catch been taken or he not over-stepped, that's what probably would have happened. Dude is bowling well and gave the Indians nowhere to run.

That said, going around the wicket reduced his effectiveness by heaps.

Agree with both of these posts as well. Apart from adding that I also thought Laxman looked good as well, til he got out.

 Idiots here claiming India are gonna get 600 and Aus all out for 343 is a "victory" for India, and my comments are considered irrational?

TBH, I think this place is under a bit of "you cannot criticise India under any circumstances" fascist rule, and I'm only glad that they're all out for less than 200 so their fascist fans can put their foot, leg and torso into mouth.
Hmm, actually I see Indians really hard on their team on this forum.

Anyway, It's far from over. I hope the Indian players have more belief than their fans.

Ganguly's knock bodes well for the rest of the series. Thought he looked pretty good, although he struggled to up a gear at times. Was great watching him and Sachin bat together.

Was interesting to see how India struggled to score runs on this slower surface. Will be reasonably tough chasing in the fourth innings, but I think it could also prove tough to take wickets because of the lack of pace.

Thought Johnson bowled well also, if at times unthreatening. Staying away from Dravid's pads, when he seemed a bit out of touch, wasn't the worst thing in the world, even if it did result in somewhat "defensive" bowling. It also contributed to Dravid's strikerate.

When Lee and Clark talked with Star Cricket at the end of the day's play, Lee mentioned how the pitch would also get lower and lower which meant that bowling stump to stump is the way to go for the bowlers according to him. Will be very interesting to see how the wicket plays in the rest of the game, that's for sure.

Very difficult for a left arm bowler to bowl "stump to stump" to RH batsmen as effectively as a right hand bowler. Unless you bowl a jaffa like Zaheer to Ponting. But unlikely to bring LBW into play, have to rely on rattling the stumps.

A tough task ahead for Indians , with ptich slowing down and australia leading with 179 runs .. Tomorrow aussies for sure will pace up the scoring rate and will try to give india a challenging total ...
