Ever since Darren Sammy's Test debute in England, earlier this year, I have been looking forward to this test. So far, he does great with the bat (38 from 77 balls atm). Let's see if he can get his maiden 50.

But the bowling is what I really look forward to. The West Indies bowling line up has poor career figures. Powell, Taylor en Edwards all average around 40. If Sammy can repeat his spell against England, he might actually give a boost to the team.

EDIT: the minute I post this, he gets run out........

What's the rule there? Frankly, if the whole bail has to be dislodged, and not just part of the bail, it simply wasn't out.

Ouch. Sounds a handful when he gets it right. What's his story? I think he may have toured here a few years ago but barely had a game. HaAs he had to wait around behind others or has he been injured?
He made his test debut end of 2004 against England but hadn't had much experience in first class cricket so didn't play again in the test side until last year.

Chanderpaul, how awesome are you? Seriously? Why the hell can't you defect to Pakistan (I know it's a ****-hole but still) and play for us? :|

I'll take Chanders over both of them any day of the week and twice on thursdays....

What's up with Sarwan? Is he injured or has he been sidelined permanently?

Edit: 'grats on an extremely well deserved century to Chanderpaul.

Saffies learning the value of Pollock the hard way here - there are many test bowlers that can run through sides on a green-top but only the very best perform day in, day out on better standard wickets.

Serves them right for treating him so poorly

I would select Polly in nearly any test team. Though I like Nel's style, I would drop him for Polly. You might even consider dropping a batsman for Pollock. Or possibly Harris.

Anyway, Windies got a 400+ score and I don't think anyone seriously expected them so do so well. Then, taking out Gibbs in the first over should really give them a boost! Good to see the Windies perform!

Harris? Harris has been an essential part of the South Africa unit since his debut. Has all the makings of an effective spinner - something South Africa has lacked sorely.

Well, I haven't seen him bowl that much. I always get the impression that some teams try to find a spinner only because of the fact they need a spinner... But you are right: Harris' relatively short-time figures are impressive.

Anyway, as I said, I would sooner drop Nel or a batsman for Pollock.

But Pollock should be in the team. That's a no-brainer, imho.
