***Official*** England in Sri Lanka

Great rearguard action from Cook.

Sri Lanka should be taking the new ball. But the way the groundstaff are moving, it is going rain. Rain GTFO. Sri Lanka will feel robbed if rain washes out this match.

Is this the rainy period in Sri Lanka, especially in Galle?

Brilliant innings by Cook ...seventh Century by age 23 equalling Miandad -with Only Bradman and Tendulkar having had more Centuries by that age....Amazing...illustrious company ....:)
Who finds these things out? Must take awhile for awkward records like that.

Rain watch: the groundsmen are beginning to lurk on the boundary, but no rain as yet.

If I were Mahela Jayawardene, I would tell Malinga to run in and bowl as fast he can for a period of a few others and try and get a wicket or two, because if you can get one or two, your likely to get a few more.

Wonder if the Umpires will offer the Batsmen the 'light' then?

Is this monsoon season?
Its the Northeast Monsoon season....shouldn't come near Galle which usually gets the other Monsoon the Southwest Monsoon.... (which is usually around May to November IIRC) - But I think SL being an Island can get rain any time ..and the Monsoons have changed around...(and any part of the Island can get any monsoon really) this is pretty much unseasonal rain...

Aren't they supposed to offer it regardless of the pace of the bowler? Its just some umpires let play continue if there is no danger to the batsmen. I'm not sure.

Jayawardene would just throw the ball to Murali and Dilshan. Speaking of the devil, here he is.

Despite Mahela's batting performances, I would say this Test series highlighted again his ineptitude as a Captain for failing to play positively in the second Test and force a win and he is a long way off from Ponting...or from Vaughan and even Kumble...

It is really impressive seeing the groundstaff putting the covers. Can't think of too many places where they don't have a tractor going out and have the covers on a trailer.

Well played England for recovering from looking down 3-0 to come out with 1-0 and it could easily have been 0-0 if that last 30 minutes had been saved at Kandy...

For SL the failure to even win a convincing series result is pathetic...

Especially given the smashing they receive overseas time and again and the recent whipping by the Aussies...

Time for a change of Captaincy more than ever , IMO..

Most of them are Prisoners from a nearby Prison on secondment to help the Ground staff IIRC....and what, you may ask, were they in Prison for ...Mostly petty crime like anything from stealing few hundred Rupees and the like.....

Jason I'm convinced. Its only rain that has saved England from a drubbing in this match and perhaps your right in saying the captain to blame in the 2nd match but a solid comeback from the Sri Lankins in match 1 to take it convinces me they are genuine winners of this series and have done so in a convincing and deserved manner.
