um not to nit-pick, but Im almost certain that George Headley had something like 10 hundreds after 19 tests.

I think this also puts things in perspective when it comes to people including George Headley in their 'Best XI ever' line ups...We see what Hussey has achieved thus far, and it's amazing, sure, but I don't think he deserves to get near any all-time Greatest XI's....Nor does Headley.

Headley played 22 tests in days when test cricket was rarely played.People used to play 20 tests in a 10-12 year career where as now they can play same number of tests in 2 years.

Number of tests is irrelevant, it should be innings we're looking at here.
Okay, will Hussey be the 2nd greatest run scorer ever after 40 Innings?

He currently has 1896 runs @ 86.18, HS 182, 7 centuries, 8 fifties from only 29 innings, while the following are the most runs at 40 innings:

(1) Don Bradman: 3528 runs @ 95.35, HS 334, 14 centuries, 5 fifties
(2) Everton Weekes: 2431 runs @ 62.33, HS 297, 9 centuries, 10 fifties
(3) Neil Harvey: 2409 runs @ 66.91, HS 205, 10 centuries, 8 fifties
(4) Herb Sutcliffe: 2340 runs @ 65.67, HS 176, 8 centuries, 13 fifties
(5) Viv Richards: 2339 runs @ 61.55, HS 291, 8 centuries, 7 fifties

(6) Denis Compton: 2294 runs @ 69.51, HS 208, 10 centuries, 9 fifties
(7) Graeme Pollock: 2252 runs @ 62.55, HS 274, 7 centuries, 11 fifties
(8) Doug Walters: 2226 runs @ 61.83, HS 242, 7 centuries, 14 fifties
(9) Brian Lara: 2218 runs @ 56.87, HS 375, 4 centuries, 12 fifties
(10) George Headley: 2190 runs @ 60.83, HS 270*, 10 centuries, 5 fifties

(11) Arthur Morris: 2184 runs @ 59.02, HS 206, 10 centuries, 5 fifties
(12) Graeme Smith: 2171 runs @ 58.67, HS 277, 7 centuries, 5 fifties
(13) Virender Sehwag: 2145 runs @ 53.62, HS 309, 7 centuries, 6 fifties
(14) Frank Worrell: 2144 runs @ 59.55, HS 261, 7 centuries, 8 fifties
(15) Wally Hammond: 2107 runs @ 58.52, HS 251, 7 centuries, 7 fifties

What I found interesting here is that Sutcliffe and Walters both passed 50 more times than Bradman :-O

Headley went 4 years without playing a Test, and lost his best years (like Bradman) to the war.

It's all but certain, really, that Headley would have had a massively notable career had West Indies had a better schedule.

Hard to see him missing really. But sudden losses of form happen to us all.

Jeez, Bradman seriously went downhill after his first 20 tests. A shadow of his former self it seems.

Although not the most statistically-inclined poster on this forum, I feel that the following should do much to put to bed your ill-informed contention:

Headley's Test average: 60.83
Headley's first-class average: 69.86

Hussey's Test average: 86.18
Hussey's first-class average: 54.82

What this tells me is that Headley's Test average is a reasonably fair reflection of his overall ability; Hussey's, on the other hand, hints at the possibility of a simple purple patch.

...He would need 535 runs in 11 innings, so I could see him missing quite easily....

Oh yeah, he's also on track to be the 2nd fastest ever to 2000 runs...(1) Bradman - 22 Innings, (2) Headley - 32 innings, (3) Sutcliffe - 33 innings....so he needs 104 runs in his next 2 innings
