What's the matter with Watson's batting?

Good on ya then. Of course I'm going to get offended when someone calls me "stupid", "uneducated" and particularly "spineless". I might pay Australia out a bit but I never resort to that sort of thing.

I have seen Watson bat plenty of times, probably about 20 times. His bowling has never been anything to write home about and fielding pretty average. I was talking about his performances this year since coming back from injury anyway but have never thought he was good enough to be playing for Australia. You should be taking that as a compliment to the strength of your cricket and not an insult
I didn't call you stupid or uneducated at all, just said that's how your case against Watson was looking. May however, have slipped in spineless.
To be fair, didn't think you would have seen Watson twenty times. Couldn't number the times I've watched him on the telly, but I've seen him live seven times - four first-class matches and three Internationals. And he looks the part everytime he's not opening in a first-class game.
I'm not insulted by the Watson-bashing, just the way you present your arguments against players you don't appear to have a lot of background finding out about.

I know all about his record in 1st-class cricket which is very good. I am also a cricket nut like yourself and have been following and playing the game since 1981....26 years and still going. When I was young I was so into stats that I would score every game on TV and keep journals of the seasons stats for international and domestic cricket. I also have an extensive collection of DVDs and books on the game so think I am in a reasonably good position to judge a player. With Watson, it's probably just as much about his application and on-field attitude as it is talent anyway.

I think Watsons problem is he's always getting injured so its hard to get some form under your belt when you spend most of the season in hospital. He has talent and is Aussies best genuine allrounder when fit and in form but he seems to lack the hard bastard streak that runs in the other Aussie test players.

As for whether he's any good or not, the argument is pointless as people on here either idolize him or hate him so the result is generally a flame war. Can we please move on?

Watson's poor form has mysteriously coincided with Prince EWS lack of posts recently.

I hope he bats at number 4 in the next four day match.

I see Watson out with a virus in Queensland's last match. Surely enough is enough. Although probably a bonus for the Toads even if they lost.
