It’s really no wonder Mathew Sinclair considers jumping ship and moving to England or South Africa every year, when just two weeks ago he was New Zealand’s answer to Michael Bevan (:)) and now suddenly his dropped for some guy called Hopkins.

Not only has he jumped in front of Sinclair. Adams, Ryder and Broom should be feeling a bit miffed as well that Hopkins was chosen before them

Well, actually the reason why Hopkins was selected was because McCullum had a thigh strain and wasn't fit to keep. The decision about who to drop thus came down between Lou Vincent and Matthew Sinclair. I probably would've dropped Vincent myself, but in the light of that information it doesn't seem as completely insane as it did before.

Apart from the fact we could pull off a hillarious trophy defence in the last game, another positive is on cricket company tonight Dennis Lillee was reported to have said at his academy thing in India that we're on to a good thing with young Tim Southee. When asked how good he said he's as good as McGrath was at his age.

Personally I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that Lillee is right and we get an all time great. Pretty please.

Cheers for the info. The way it was reported here was that Sinclair after one failure was gone again.

Hopefully he means his bowling and not his batting.

Frankly speaking i thought dropping Sinclair was a dire move from the Black caps he is one of their better batsmen and he is just being wasted by being made to bat at no.7, guys like Vincent and How are looking clueless against the Aussie attack and i would be tempted to open with Sinclair or bat him at 3, but having Hopkins in the side as a reserve keeper hardly makes sense when they have Vincent who can keep decently in case McCullum can't keep.

Well i hope that's true because its about time New Zealand find a decent pacer because apart from Bond most of their current lot of fast bowlers are pretty dire.

ODIs yes. FC and tests is fine. Gillespie has a list A average of 30 so he was always going to struggle. I think Franklins list A average is over 30 too. FC records of 24 and 27 respectively however is good. Martin is just a wierdo who isn't much in domestic cricket but has somehow found success at test level.

So yeah, we need someone better than the very good Mills who isn't injured all the time like Bond to lead the way in one dayers. Not too worried about test bowling though.

Does anyone know -- will the bowling/batting statistics from the start of yesterdays game (lee's wickets etc.) count towards their career records, or will they be removed coz of the abadoned match?

They count even though it was abandonned.
