Yes. He has been in some form against South africans. I would expect him to perform in the Chapple - Hadlee as this is the best time for him to cement his place in the NZ middle order. I also hope that How will also bring some stability in the NZ batting in this series. For this to happen, lot of concentration and application is needed. All the best Sinclair and How!dont want to put pressure on the man ... but Sinclair needs a good series.. his form against the aussies.. isnt hot with only one decent score of 48 amongest 9 other very low scores which include 2 ducks.. avg.14.7
What he needs is to be on the test team as a specialist not in the ODI squad IMO. This may only get him dropped for good. I hope not. I hope he plays well and proves me wrong.dont want to put pressure on the man ... but Sinclair needs a good series.. his form against the aussies.. isnt hot with only one decent score of 48 amongest 9 other very low scores which include 2 ducks.. avg.14.7
I recently analysed this and when Franklin and Bond are playing together, Franklins statistics are significantly better. And even better than that since Gillespies debut and in Franklins most recent matches he averages better and has a lower economy than anytime in his career.Lets be honest. Franklin is no more handy to us than Gillespie is IMO. Their stats normally end up pretty similar.

People still bash him though.
This is exactly why he always get dropped from the test side. He usually gets brought back into the test side after everyone else fails and does decently, but because NZ don't play many tests, they play him in the ODIs as well and he fails (because, shock horror, he's not that good at ODIs). But not only does he get (justifiably) dropped from the ODI side - he gets dropped from the test side as well based on poor ODI performances, which is complete lunacy. What he needs is to be on the test team as a specialist not in the ODI squad IMO. Gillespies a gun with the bat. Haven't you seen his french cut?More than handy with the bat too
I think he can succeed in ODI's, he's no snail with his SR. Agreed about our lunacy in test selection though, and if Fulton can score 100 in a FC game then he's fit enough for me.This is exactly why he always get dropped from the test side. I don't have many problems with him being in the ODI team this time around as NZ really don't have any other options (well, except Fulton, but they obviously didn't deem him fit enough given they've kept Hopkins around) but if he fails and gets dropped, he should still be in the test setup. He'll probably be cast aside again though, so I'd rather him not play ODIs at all as to stop the illusion of failure.
Symmo, lee and hayden struggling with fitness, rumours are adam voges will be called up to the team.
i think they will all playCaptain Ricky Ponting said that Lee had been feeling poorly at an early-morning team meeting and so will be given until the last minute to return to health, meaning the Australian 12 will not be named until the day of the game.
"He just felt a bit under the weather this morning, we had a team meeting at the hotel before we came down to training and he's got a bit of a virus so we decided we'd play the cautious card if you like and leave him back at the hotel to take it easy," Ponting said.
"His chances (of playing) are pretty good. He's hard to leave out of any team, with a day's rest today after the Twenty20 game and the flight over."
As for Symonds, Ponting said he was "95 per cent" sure that the burly allrounder would take his place in the team leaving one of James Hopes or Brad Haddin on standby should he not be fit.
"(Symonds) would probably play with a broken ankle if he got the chance but he's done all the training that was required of him today," Ponting said.
"He had a run around in the field and a really good hit in the nets, so he's a bit the same. I'd imagine he's a 95 per cent chance of playing, but we've got adequate cover if he doesn't come up."
Tait's home ground is adelaide.. his hunting ground.. has a lot of success here as he does anywhere in Aus really..Flem,
The Aussies just rate themselves highly enough to go for broke and all out attack, even in ODIs & T20. Might be a different story on the flat deck at Adelaide though.
Yeah expect some ripping reversing toe-crushers from Taity at the Adelaide oval.Tait's home ground is adelaide.. his hunting ground.. has a lot of success here as he does anywhere in Aus really..
Gillespie is just a crap one day bowler.Styris has bowled poorly for a while now he'd just get hit.
Gillespie is also a "specialist" death bowler so I don't think we should wrap him up in cotton wool and keep him from something he is supposed to be adept at.
I hate the idea of bowling Patel at the death as while he may trouble the batsman and get wickets he will certainly get hit and my heart would break if a Yuvraj style 6 6's went his way. Conditions may determine that this could be viable at times, but certainly not as a rule should we ever bowl a spinner at the death. If they are 6-7 down then sure, keep the pressure on, but if they are flying then we'd just be throwing Patel to the wolves.
Passionate Auckland fan I see.Put Andre Adams on the next plane....Tell him to stick his retirement/blah blah blah plans up his ass and get him over there now
I'm an ND supporter Flem. You should know that mate. Grew up in MatamataPassionate Auckland fan I see.
He's good in FC cricket but his bowling on flat one day decks is suspect. Doesn't have the pace IMO. He'll have the problem Mason has. Should be right in tests though.
