My Top 5:

Wasim Akram
Curtley Ambrose
Glenn McGrath
Allan Donald
Waqar Younis

The qualification is to have played 20 tests minimum between 1-1-1990 & 31-12-1999.

A toss-up between Akram, Ambrose, McGrath and Warne. No secret who I think was the best.

Damien Fleming only played 18 Tests. Well done for not including a whole host of other fine bowlers too.

Ambrose was easily the best in both forms of the game IMO. In one day cricket the Aussies could never tear him apart the way they did Akram. Jones is a good example. When he tried to charge Ambrose he broke his thumb. When he charged Akram he thumped him down the ground for four. Same goes for Ponting, except for the thumb.

No Donald on the poll?

I refuse to vote in protest.

Anyway, presuming this is purely about Tests...

A top-five for me would look something like:
Donald
Ambrose
Wasim Akram
McGrath
Pollock

And when you're leaving-out from a top-five luminaries like Bishop (who took 137 wickets at 22.18 between February 1990 and June 1997 - and lawd know what that'd have been but for serious injury), Warne (289 wickets at 22.55 between Feb 1993 and Feb 1998), Walsh, Waqar Younis (166 wickets at 17 in 26 Tests between October 1990 and September 1994, then 75 in 17 at 24 between July 1996 and December 1998), Muralitharan (146 at 23.25 in 25), Kumble (163 at 21.35 in 29 games in India) and several others you know it was a powerful time for bowling.

And when the likes of Angus Fraser, Paul Reiffel, Andrew Caddick, Craig McDermott, Dion Nash, Merv Hughes, Simon Doull, Chris Cairns, Darren Gough and Javagal Srinath are left looking second-string, you know it even more.

What's more, you can only wish the likes of Bruce Reid, Jason Gillespie, PS de Villiers, Damien Fleming, Heath Streak and Craig Matthews had played rather more than they did.

Ambrose for me, but Donald would have come a pretty close second.

Warne. McGrath and Murali's most prolific bowling came in the 2000's for me.

Damien Fleming was a very fine bowler IMO, His career was shortened due to injury. Not saying that he desrves to be in the list but IMO he was the second best Aussie bowler in 1999-2000. I would rate him above Vaas.

He had a great action and had a funny run up .. Just watch a footage of him bowling ! His feet were never straight and were always spread apart at a 180 degree angle while he came to bowl. He had a great line and length and was a master at maintaining a same length but didn't really swung the ball ... Anyways was kinda my fav bowler in those days but not the top most favorite at all .
I guess that Shoaib Akhtar's 1999 performances should have earned him a place there in the poll list ! anyways !!!
