Noffke seems to be getting a lot of wraps on this forum. Having never seen him play and not followed Australian domestic cricket more than the odd passing glance, what will he bring to the table?
Second highest runs scorer in Aus first class cricket this year and 3rd highest wicket taker. He's also been in the QLD side which has been rubbish this season. Also had a champion run since his return from injury in 06/07.

In short he is a gun!

? i think he has to bowl more
Obviously - he's only bowled a few overs since coming back from injury and none in FC cricket so far. The rolleyes was directed at your delight; his non-selection is perfectly reasonable at this stage.

Commonwealth Bank Chappell Hadlee Trophy squad is:

Ricky Ponting (captain) - TAS, 32
Adam Gilchrist (vice-captain) - WA, 36
Nathan Bracken - NSW, 30
Michael Clarke - NSW, 26
Brad Haddin - NSW, 30
Matthew Hayden - QLD, 36
Brad Hogg - WA, 36
James Hopes - QLD, 29
Michael Hussey - WA, 32
Mitchell Johnson - QLD, 26
Brett Lee - NSW, 31
Andrew Symonds - QLD, 32
Shaun Tait - SA, 24
The bowling looks a bit vulnerable going on past experience of bloody Chappel Hadlee games. Problem is so does ours. If we dare play Martin i think Australia will finally amass a total we can't even get near.

Let's just pray Bracewell doesn't decide that he must play, just to spite the NZ cricket fan. I'm pretty sure he does that sometimes you know
I think that would be the end for me. I'd lose the last vestiges of my sanity and do something awful such as take up lawn bowls.

I don't understand the wisdom behind having Brad Haddin in the 13 man squad for the C-H series he has definitely performed exceptionally well in both Ranger cup and international games but at that time he was filling in for Mike Hussey, but with Hussey back in the team i can't see Haddin playing in the XI, it would have been better to select an extra fast bowler (Noffke, Hilfenhaus) or a young spinner to give them a taste of international cricket to give them a game during the series.

My Australian XI for the first game would be
1.Adam Gilchrist
2.Matty Hayden
3.Ricky Ponting
4.Michael Clarke
5.Andrew Symonds
6.Mike Hussey
7.James Hopes
8.Brad Hogg
9.Brett Lee
10.Mitchell Johnson
11.Nathan Bracken

We've got nothing. Although I daresay if White was fit I'd have picked him over Hopes. Although I really don't rate Hopes at all. I'd also have picked Noffke but with Lee playing (I thought he was being rested) there are enough genuine fast bowlers.
