After watching the first few overs of that bowling performance it was obvious it wasn't to be our day. A LBW shout that some umpires would give and some wouldn't, Gibbs almost chopping onto his stumps twice in one over. Gillespie has to be the most fustrating bowler we've produced. So damn inconsistent. With his record if he hasn't produced by the end of the season then we should consider giving someone else a run as he would have had two years for not much repayment by then.

Anyway, thought we couldn't win simply because we weren't chasing, which is a bad thing IMO. We've struggled for a long time to defend totals in ODI's and it's something we desperately need to work on, because it makes us look very one dimensional.

Timely knock from Pig, while Sinclair seems to have nailed down a lower order spot. Very uncharacteristic knock it seems - quitee quick. Certainly making the most of his chances.

Vincent with a wicket makes up for his failure imo.

Time for you to practice some optimism methinks.
I never really got that mentality personally. Optimists are invariably let down by the harsh realities of life. Pessimists, on the other hand, will always be prepared when everything turns to custard. And if things don't go as they expect, after taking a couple of seconds to wipe the egg off their face, they get a nice surprise and can join in on the feel good fun.

As long as ou don't get anel about punning then it should be okay.
These two teams are botha taylor made for this kind of stuff. The whole situation is complete pollocks. It gibbs duminy people the excuse to churn the kind of mindless puns that would make Ronnie Barker spin in his grave. Does anyone else agree? Oram I missing the point?

I think our Gillespie 'trial' is over and quite frankly his performances over-all have been nothing but poor. Going at an average of well over 40 and at a run-rate of about nearly 6 everytime he plays is really shocking. Go with Franklin again! I thought i'd never ever say that

I think the kiwis did us quite proud in the ODI series. In conditions that have never favoured New Zealand and where we seem to have the poorest record we managed to compete after a dismal test series. The series should have been ours if we managed to just hang on in the 1st ODI but it wasn't to be.

Ps: I was listening to the radio last night from South Africa and all I can say is very biased and the lack of a kiwi commentator really made it very one sided.

Disagree completely. Optimists can both be positive and realistic. There are levels of optimsim. Pessimists are less likely to try something than optimists because they'll think they will fail therefore they do.:p

Seriously, with some of the pessimists out there (not talking about you here) I think they should just put an end to their misery and jump off a cliff. The nthe optimists can make a business out of it "Pessimist Suicide Cliff, Ten bucks a Jump"

and don't get me started on fair weather supporters..:@

I know. I here a lot of people say New Zealand's commentators are the worst, but the efforts of some of the South African commentators on this tour put even Martin Crowe to shame. Most of the time when we were batting, I could hardly tell the difference between a 1 and a 4 they were so unenthusiastic. And anything less than a run produced a series of orgasmic squeals and throaty chesty grunts. They whole affair was rather offputting.

The situation is taylor make for a recall quite franklin. Gillespie bowled so many pies I'm surprised Gibbs wasn't off to the lou to chuck 'em up. Such a shame as Mills and Gillespie were forming quite a bowling bond between them.

Loved it when Shaun Pollocks 20/20 batting record came up. An average of 8 and a HS of 20 and the yarpie said "Thats a good one, thats a very good record by Shaun Pollock"

Well, I have Langeveldt that there weren't enough of them on these forums. OK, I'd better stop before I lose the ability to form sentences without using cricket player surnames.

Wonder How many pages of puns we'll get? Oram i just being silly? (Theres a blatant rip off of Bahnz for ya)

I'm just glad that Craig Cumming is out of the team. Otherwise this whole situation could get rather...messy.

Think it was me and Athlai who were thinking of Cumming puns for banners in another thread.
Now there's a reason to have Cumming and How opening. They'd have the most punning potential of any opening pair since Salman Butt and Imran Farhat.

I look forward to the opportunity. Predict the NZ/Bangladesh thread to be all puns and no cricket talk if it happens.

I must say though, if Ryder and Cumming were ever presented with the opportunity to form a partnership, I think I'd die and go to punning heaven.
