NBA 07-08 season thread

San Antonio are the best playoff team in the league, but they have match-up problems with Dallas. If they avoid Dallas like they did last season, I think they'll repeat. Not that Dallas seem too into it this season.
they(dallas) haven't had a bad start and anyway it's too early in the season to predict where they will end up, that they will get into the playoffs is a given...

yeah james alone is keeping the cavs afloat with hughes out to injury, varejao not getting signed up...has been incredible so far this year...
Close to leading the MVP race? Would have to be close. I haven't seen any Cavs games this season yet, but from reading box scores, recaps etc. I assume that the Big Z is having a decent start to the season as well? Not having Varejao will prove to be a huge cost to them imo.

Yeah, Bucks are on a real good roll at the moment and Bogut has a lot to do with that. They've won their last 5 and are 5-0 at home. Was a close game against the Mavs in their last match. Was following it on the live box score, and it was pretty tense.
Bogut & Redd, should move and play for the Cavs imo

well if he continues in this sort of form and importantly leads the cavs to at least the middle of the playoff pack by the end of the regular season(or at the very least till the all-star break), he would be the favourite for mvp in my opinion, he was pretty close to getting it last time and this season he has been playing even better....it just remains to be seen how long he can continue to take on most of the burden for his team without getting burnt out or injured, he seems to revel in the responsibility so far though....
ilgauskas has been playing well so far without being exceptional or anything....varejao was not important to them as far as numbers went but he brought a lot of energy and scrappy in-your-face defense that is not always reflected in the stats, that's what they are gonna miss...

Agreed re: Varejao not getting the numbers, but as you said, from what I've read/seen of him, he was an asset to them in terms of defence, and on the boards.

defense i agree...the boards though, he was just averaging 6 boards or something last year(although probably half were on the offensive end leading to 2nd chance opportunities), it's not a huge contribution at least as far as stats go...he was just a fiesty player who brought a lot of energy to the floor and that was his main asset...

I certainly lol'd

Interesting debate going atm on NBA.com re: LeBron vs. Kobe. Once you get past all the ridiculously bias comments from either side, there's actually a good debate in the middle of it all.

Wasn't a wish. It was a realistation of mediocrity.
i don't think they are all that mediocre...and redd had a couple of chances in the last few seconds to win that game...would say they are a much more cohesive unit than the knicks at this point but outside of michael redd, it doesn't look like they have the confidence to make a serious run....

Cavs showing just how ordinary a team they are without James, only just making 70 vs. the Celts.

that's true, lebron has been keeping them afloat single-handedly so far.... but the celts were below par as well, making just 80 and both pierce and garnett in single figures...although it would be a concern to other teams that they still manage to win with such sub-par nights from two of their biggest stars...

the heat has to be the worst team this season so far, hard to put that tag on a team with wade and o'neal but the team has been absolutely listless and sliding from one defeat to another...
