I really feel sorry for Hemang Badani. Whenever he has been given a chance in the Indian team, he has always played well and impressed and I think he deserves a longer run. He's a very good fielder as well, as good as Yuvraj. I think he should replace Yuvraj in the OD team. He deserves it, what do you ppl think?

You are right. He is the best player not playing for India for the last couple of years. Difficult to say why.

He is a very good bat and has excellent temprament.

If one has to find a fault with him, I would say he "gives the impression" of playing for himself.

I cant put my finger on why I feel so, but I have always got that feeling. But then when someone is treated as some of these players on the fringes have been, I suppose it changes the way one looks at every single opportunity he gets.

WHY PICK ANOTHER BATSMAN!?
A lineup of Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dhoni, Dravid, Yuvraj, and Kaif has MORE than enough batting ability to regularly post big totals. I believe an all rounder should be drafted in to balance the bowling side of things...the Indian bowling right now looks very ordinary. Jai P Yadav, Ramesh Powar, or Joginder Sharma are the men that can fill this role in the one day games. With guys like Pathan and Zaheer Khan shining with the bat lately, I think India can afford to compensate a bit on the batting side of things in order to have enough bowling options in order to feel confident about defending totals.

An average of 33..4 in 40 games (Mongia 27.4 in 49 games) is pretty good in ODI's. His only sentury and one of his 4 fifties have come against Australia.

He's done rather well this Ranji, but he's only got two scores over 50 (including a massive 251*) in all the matches he played- maybe he was miscast as an opener. He hasn't been bowling much, but he's still got a good number of wickets at a good average, supporting Gagandeep, Vineet and VR Singh well. At present, he's a much better player than he was when he played for India and is a lot more effective than Dinesh Mongia.

Maybe not. He didn't even make the West Zone side. He should have been picked when he was running hot. The selectors chose variety instead.

Never too late.....but those five clowns never learn. Maybe the BCCI should stage a coup and appoint five Times of India journos as selectors.

He was a Tamil Nadu player and Tamil Nadu players are known to be discarded despite having promise at times.
