***Official*** New Zealand in South Africa

Not Terrible
Unlucky though, had the ground but his bat was the wrong way round, curved up instead of down and that couple inches cost him dearly.

Cricinfo- “Nel back into the attack now. Can he nail one here?”

Can he land two balls on the same spot should be the more pressing question.

I know it his game to run between the wickets furiously but no need to risk the 2nd there. Don't know which was dumber of the two run-outs tbh

Pig taking it to Botha, good to see. People may have looked at his economy rate and thought he bowled well otherwise.

Top win by New Zealand, South Africa were battered.

And I would not be surprised if New Zealand take the Cape Town match as well, wicket is more like Mumbai nowadays and the Blacks Caps have two quality spinners - whilst South Africa will probably be under the pump early on when Dumb and Dumber get found out once more.

Wow. Was never expecting that scorecard when I woke up. It seems that the most unlikely candidates IMO have got into a bit of form. How - Where did he come from? I thought he was gone for a long time after some weak performances previously but wow he is looking good. McCullum is sort of proving his critics wrong a bit about opening the batting he certainly has played well there. Mills again with others to back up this time. A good effort after a really bad test series.

Vincent is doing is best to be dropped for Australia.

I hope he gets a score next game because he's brilliant in Aussie but if he goes in with no form...

McCullum and How looked pretty streaky early on. How they got away with it I don't know but they recovered nicely and played some good shots. If Steyn plays next game we'll see just how good How is against proper pace. He must have secured himself a ticket to Australia though. Cannot wait until Fulton rejoins the side and its at full batting strength. Hope Sinclair gets a good ten overs to bat at the death because I'm quite interested to see how he'll go.

If SA play Steyn, Ntini and Pollock next time its game on.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Great win by us. Took care of the South African batting pretty damn well then a solid batting performance put the game away.

However, Lou :( I hope he scores big in the next game. I doubt he'll get dropped for Australia if he fails but he must score more than 40 soon...

How is seeming like a gun. If he scores another 50 in the third match it'll be the first time a Kiwi has done that in a long while (IIRC Styris didn't string 3 together at the World Cup...or did he?)

Great win by the boys. McCullum did look VERY good opening. If he can just learn not to play so many silly shots at the start we might see a lot more innings like that one. How looked solid again, and played a few attractive looking strokes. He does look good enough to be experience continued success at the international level, which is encouraging. But somewhat worryingly he got out in the way he's most vulenerable: playing around his front pad. He'll need to get that issue sorted out if this series isn't to be a one off.

Good team bowling effort from the boys, until the last two overs. Mills and Gillespie are contrasting bowlers, and seem to work well together. Oram's presence is also invaluable, not only for his ability to play, but because it allows the selectors to pick two spinners, both of whom bowled very nicely indeed. Looking forward to the third game. I imagine the South African's will bring Steyn into the team now. With only ten overs available, that shouldn't be enough to definatively swing the advantage in South Africa's favour, but he will certainly give our batsmen one final test, before we set off for Australia. It'll also be interesting because it'll remove the option of simply playing out Pollock whilst attacking the rest as we've done in the first two games.

The selectors are gonna have a hard time picking the batting lineup for the CH series, with Fulton now fit and looking good for Canterbury. I suppose he'll have to come in for Sinclair, but it won't be an easy decision.
