Yes! For once the damn Aussies are getting injured too! Now since we have no Bond, Hayden or Ponting must get injured or play like **** to even things up.

In all seriousness, no Bond is a big worry but if we're sensible with our bowling selections i.e. no Franklin, O'Brien, Martin, Mason or heaven forbid, Tuffey then we shouldn't get clobbered around too much or even maybe at all. Patel and Vettori have to play IMO. Those two and Mills are our best bowlers ATM.

You might almost be forced into picking Franklin as a batsman who can bowl a few overs...

I don't think he's fit anyway though.

Don't see him getting the gig just yet - how's his one day form?

There's always the possibility of playing five bowlers - Hogg at 7 and Lee at 8. In that case you'd be tempted to go;

Gilchrist
Hayden
Ponting
Clarke
Symonds
Hussey
Hogg
Lee
Clark
Johnson
Tait

With Hilfenhaus and Bollinger as substitutes.

Undoubtedly - guys like Hopes, Pomersbach, Noffke and White have picked the worst possible time to get injured or suspended.
Why do you rate Doug Bollinger so highly? He's in good form this season, but his career has been unimpressive.

Is he after a drinking game with one of the Kiwi players?

Not Terrible
Franklin a better ODI bowler than I feel he gets credit for, suffering a Marshall-esque overuse though.

At least in Australia and on current form no Shane Bond New Zealand will get done in a white wash on the Australian side of the series.

Bearing in mind half the side is injured but we get Fulton back, Mills is in extremely good form, we've actualy found a couple of openers (for now) and Vincent is amazing is Aussie.

And the Vettori-Patel bowling partnership is great too.

Not saying we will win, but we will give a hell of alot more fight then most people think and may even scrape through to win the series.

Also would like to remind you what our batting line up can do to your bowlers.:p

Minus McMillan? He does leave a big hole in the lineup, after his stellar performances against Australia recently.

Yes, I am aware of the weight joke.

That is true but a team of:

McCullum (assuming he carries on current form)
Vincent
How
Fulton
Styris
Taylor
Oram
Vettori
Mills
Gillespie
Patel

Could do well IMO.

McCullum would bat better down the order. He has done so against Australia, hitting many quick cameos to help us win. Opening with him would be stupid IMO. it'd be better to open with Fulton & Vincent or How & Vincent to get a more solid start and then let the fireworks happen late in the innings.

IMO a full strength NZ side could take Australia but with the amount of injuries we have, I sincerely doubt it.

Yeah I know, just picking on current results.

I'd like to see Sinclair have a go too.

He had a pretty good crack at the Saffies with a quick 30 odd. If he continues to bat in the same manner then maybe he's a perfect replacement for Macca.

James don't we already have a Chappell-Hadlee thread for this series but now i guess this is the official thread for this series.
Anyways Laurrz i hope Haydos, Roy and Pup are all fit before the start of this series and for our sake lets hope agent 007 is ruled out of this series because he has a habit of ripping through Australian batting line-up's.

I hope everybody is fit. I really like cricket to be played by the best against best and Bond is great for cricket and is New Zealand’s only chance in this series.

While in the past the kiwi's have put in good performances against us I just don’t have the vibe this year that they are playing well enough to put in a genuine challenge.
