I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Anyway, it feels good to have a bowler take a 5fer in a ODI for us, especially for the low amount of runs Mills did it for. Gun effort.

This side doesn't have a good balance, we can't play 5 bowlers without Franklin due to how it weakens our batting yet we can't NOT play them because of how it weakens our bowling. Our bowling is weak to begin with due to spots like Martin and Gillespie (though he shows potential), will Braces ****ing give Patel a run surely he could do no worse?

I would like to see with the players we have:

How
Vincent
Piggo
Sinclair
Taylor
McCullum
Vettori
Mills
Mason
Gillespie
Patel

I think if that squad had Bond/Oram/Franklin in it, it would be more than handy (in that order of preference).

The battings weak but I would rather a chance to defend 200 than to score 280 and watch SA run through it.

I think Oram is back next game so you can swap Mason for Oram.

That middle order (IMO) should be:

Sinclair
Styris
Taylor

Though Styris and Taylor are interchangeble really.

Looking foward to Oram hopefully being back for the next game and giving the team a better balance as although he doesn't perform consistently the team looks more stable with an extra bowler and batter.

Team Lineup was alright last night, though I wish they had played an additional bowler (Mason or Patel) instead of Hopkins as in hindsight the batting order didn't need to be down to 7 until you get the "all-rounders" of Vettori and Mills.

Pleased with How giving it a decent shot and the number of CD players in the line up.

Looks like a very decent squad to me.

That game was great. Good to see NZ competing again after the tests and seeing some combos working eg. Mcullum and How etc. Mills has really developed as a player from his beginning. Ever since watching him play at eden park a few years ago you could see from his technique and his change that he was becoming more consistent and threatening. Bring on Bangladesh this year! Bond and Mills together sounds good.

Yeah after the Test series it's good to see us regaining a player from injury instead of losing one. Mills + Bond + Franklin + Martin(though Patel FTW and Martin only at home or in SA) in Tests = a better attack than quite a few countries can field.

We should crush Bangers, hurrah! I was worried for a while there.

We'd only do that if the Saffas had been the thugs in the first place.

Or are you rewriting history, Francis?
It's a well known fact Nel's arm conceals the ball when he engages (bowls to) New Zealand batsmen and he needs to be sort out. Graeme Smith has a habbit of sneaking past square point when the ball is bowled, and needs to be sorted out as well. Batsmen and bowlers... you need somebody who can do the job both sides! Get Skinner!

Seriously through, Bekker and Koch were too powerful for him so he threw a couple of haymakers. Champion boxer he was!

Doesn't really explain why Bekker tried to kick Skinner in the back, but got Tiny White instead. Cowardly, cowardly act. No wonder he cried on television when he admitted it 40 years later.

I don't know what he said, I think it was in reply to me.

I know Francis from another board. He's not a bad guy, but he has a perculiar fascination with Kevin Skinner from the 3rd Test of the 1956 Springboks series, which I'm sure the Black Caps are thinking about as we speak. Why really did go down in that scrum?
