btw Mills is the man.....despite not hitting the blockhole as is usually suggested, he was for once very effective at the death.

More importantly though, he was excellent in his opening spell, which is his forte. Honestly, Mills is in the top 2 or 3 in the world for bowling with the new ball in ODIs.

Damn! When I fell asleep we had them in all sorts of trouble at 2 for almost nothing. Who gave them runs? (Bar Gilespie at the death)

EDIT: And can we please, please have a bowling attack of Bond, Mills, Oram ,Vettori, Patel? Just once? Bloody injuries. Bond and Mills would have destroyed them, to echo the person that said that earlier.

Still can't understand why Gareth Hopkins is in the side. Admittedly we had no choice last night but when Oram returns he should go. odds on it'll be Sinclair who's dropped though. If it ain't him it will be Vincent. Next game we should have a bating order that has people in their proper positions for once though I'd be tempted to give McCullum another go opening because he played really well last night.

McCullum
How
Sinclair
Vincent
Styris
Taylor
Oram
Vettori
Mills
Gillespie
Patel

Were they flukey shots or were they well played?
First two were cracking strikes, step away and bang, inside out through extra cover.

Third was a complete shank and if it had been anyone other than Chris Martin at extra cover he may well have been caught.

Sigh, a close loss. Can we break this RSA hoodoo one day? I don't know. But fair efforts by Mills, How and Sinclair!
Cracker of a match it seems, and IMO I don't think one side was greater on the day.

You were right. And Perm was right. Martin is crap in ODers
*resists urge to say "I told ya so"*

So, what should our opening pair be for the next match? I'd go with McCullum and How. I still have my reservations on whether McCullum is capable of opening but those two did quite well last night. Also, what should SA's be? Their openers with the exception of one Gibbs innings have been poor to say the least as well.

FFS, Vincent in his first innings since his world cup injury and century scores 6 and we're talking about dropping him? GTFO.

Can't drop him. Don't have enough batsmen. He can move into the middle order though and How and McCullum can open.

Though if he plays many more shots like that awful slog and miss that got him out Bracewell will relish the opportunity to drop him for the gazzillionith time.

Although I would rather have How and Vincent open with McCullum where Hopkins is TBH.
That would be good but after McCullum scored that forty we might as well see if he can do it again.

Odds that because of the forty Bracewell will persist with him there for the next 15 games no matter what anyone?
