Surely it's most welcoming of all, though, to try to help people understand who's who? Even more so than to pretend that you don't know either.

And there are always some CW-related stuff that is going to be "cliquey", TBH - someone once mentioned Fuller's fondness for thumbs; I've mentioned the Awards before now; names are no different. You're never going to get around the fact that newer or less regular members are going to have some stuff they don't understand. It'd be fruitless to try.
Dude just make a thread called "richard is going to call everyone by there real name thread" and put up a list of everyones real name and you can chat in it. I think this would be a good idea.

This has been discussed - you might NOT be surprised to hear - before TBH. There was a suggestion - Manee's IIRR - that an AKA field can be created, which most members will be happy to fill-in.

That's a far better idea than me creating some massive thread that I keep adding to in a sensationalist manner. Trouble is, I think it'll take quite some working into. The question of real-names isn't going to go away, though, so the sooner the better.

& he's asked Richard to stop addressing him as such. I know Sir Alex Ferguson's real name, but it doesn't follow that gives me carte blanche to call him "Ferguson" or "Fergie" should I meet him. Whereas perhaps people who actually do share an intimacy with him might be allowed to. If he asked me to stop what sort of person am I if I continue?
Asking someone not to call you by your real name is ridiculous though. It's what a name is for. Meeting Ferguson would likely be a highly formal situation, unlike an internet forum.

The guy doesn't want you to address him by his real name, any individual with any sort of decency will respect his wish and either address him by his forum name or not communicate with him at all but some people will just go on to create ruckus all over.

These people are just born stubborn and full of themselves and not to forget they also have no life. No wonder CW means so much to them because outside of it nobody wants to be associated with such egotistical maniacs.

Forum names are there for a reason.

Dude, look at the thread title. Then look at how many posts in the thread are yours. Then punch yourself in the face.

LOL nah Rich just a random coincidence, although it is kinda bizarre wanting to be addressed by my work address as my surname rather then my actual last name.
Well it might get a bit confusing if we get 2 people both called Rob Cribb. :p So I think I'll stick to NUFAN TBH.

You don't know the other Rob Cribb do you BTW?

 The irony! Deliberate, for my money.
