Just to announce that I will be stepping down as captain of Cricket Web Blue. It's been a good run, laced with a lot of success, albeit interspersed with some very rough patches. It's been an enjoyable captaincy, but now it is time to move on. It is clear to me that I've taken Blue as far as I can and now the challenge must be passed to someone else.
As such, it is my pleasure to announce the successor to the helm of CW Blue - Travis Demeza. The left-arm quick has been a hardworking and very successful pro in the Dev League for years, and has always played with great heart and passion, wearing blue with as much pride as anyone. His commitment to CW cricket has always been a great asset and he was recently rewarded with an overdue Test cap. Since then he has gone a long way toward establishing himself as a first-string player for the CW XI. Hopefully Demeza can bring this new experience to the fore as he prepares to lead CW Blue in a new season of challenging cricket.
Not yet decided on the deputy, but will talk to Demeza and a couple of other senior players about it. A couple of names under consideration are Robert Cribb and Thamba Mamesh. Of course, Demeza's opinion on this matter will go a long way toward determining the vice-captain. As for Sean Fuller, the captaincy was offered to him, but time constraints meant he would not be able to take on the role.
Again, congratulations to you, Travis. I look forward to playing under you. Now don't go and get yourself suspended again.
