Pretty much done for SL though. Which is a shame. Not to mention Atapattu...
He > both of them when in the right frame of mind (which there's about a 50\50 chance of him being).
He has come back and scored a 50 in his first outing, hasn't he?Pretty much done for SL though. Which is a shame.
Impossible. Aussies will lose a home series for the first time in 15 years, and of all the teams, to SL who aren't a great traveling team?Sri Lanka 1-0.
They'll win the Gabba test.
Australia haven't played test cricket for nearly 12 months. We've just lost 2 of the greatest to ever play the game, and one of the best opening partnerships of all time has just been split up. I'm predicting a massive upset.Impossible. Aussies will lose a home series for the first time in 15 years, and of all the teams, to SL who aren't a great traveling team?
You have to get the Aussies out twice as Australia has an unbelievable batting order. Not merely great, but dead set unbelievable. And not only that, the main bowling weapon from the other side has a history of being neutralized. To top it off, they have never won even a Test in Australia, let alone a series. Oh, and Australia have never lost a series to any subcontinental side at home. Ever.Australia haven't played test cricket for nearly 12 months. As opposed to now?The only time anyone came close was India in 2004 and the bowling is many times better than it was then ( there was no McGrath, Warne then ) and the batting is on another level. Plus, the SL batting lineup of now is nowhere near the batting lineup of India in 2004 (and even then India lost a Test, to a worse bowling attack than SL will face now).
It's hard to say something is impossible in sports: but it's impossible.
Well, this time the replacements are Test standard, and actually pretty good too.As opposed to now?
He isn't any longer considered an automatic selection though, even though hes a class batsman in Tests. Hes also had prominent disagreements with the board and selectors so I don't think he'll really get much more of a chance anymore. He has come back and scored a 50 in his first outing, hasn't he?
I can almost guarantee you that Malinga will not fire against this Aussie batting lineup. Just too many quality players of pace in there, and if they can get comfortable picking up his action then I don't think he'll really have that much of an impact. Australian batsmen face bowlers like Tait and Lee in domestic cricket so don't see that he'll really offer anything unexpected.Beware of Malinga. Really, Sri Lanka's hopes bank on him - Murali will be a factor but SL need an early threat who can really rock that Aussie top-order. If Malinga doesn't fire, Australia 2-0.
I sure do hope that isn't the case, for Sri Lanka's sake.He isn't any longer considered an automatic selection though, even though hes a class batsman in Tests. Hes also had prominent disagreements with the board and selectors so I don't think he'll really get much more of a chance anymore.
