mmm, just noticed this thread..interesting. As someone who rarely posts I have to say I find this forum confusing. For a start when you post a reply i can't seem to find any emoticons panel if I want to ad smiley faces :) Not a big deal i know :D (I added those ones b/c I knew how to type them) I just find the whole forum setup quite user un-friendly compared to others.

And then when you're reading threads, they always seem to go off topic after the first two posts so by the time I get to them I feel like I'm intruding on a private conversation and posting on what the topic was originally about is kinda a waste of time. Plus...signatures!!! The ones on the forum are so huge and messy, I can't make out what's a post and what's part of a signature half the time. I also feel people can get really agressive, not sure if that's cos maybe it's probably a male-dominated forum -- hee hee, ***ist I know. I'm sorry.

I am pretty sure you will get a emoticons menu when you hit the Post Reply button.

Do you use the Quick Reply button? In that case, you should hit the "Go Advanced" button to be able to see what smileys and emoticons are out there and to insert them.

Of course, if you know the name of the emoticon, you can just type ':' followed by the emoticon name and then another ':', and you will get it when you post the message.

Aggression!

Off topic!

And the emoticons (or similies) are to the right of the message: box, assuming your clicking quote or Post Reply as opposed to QR (quick reply). All you need to do is press More.

ok thanks guys, but there must be something wrong with my settings b/c I always hit post reply and there are no emoticons to the right of my message box. All I have to the right is "Logged in as burr" and below the option to post an icon for my message. Anyway, it's quite annoying :( see I want to do an angry face now not a sad one grrrr lol

Should be right there when you click Post Reply (as opposed to Quick Reply), like this:

Oh thanks pasag. I get this:

when I click post reply. No wonder I thought this forum was user unfriendly! Mmm, it's just me then. Weird.

Edit: Yeah Athlai is right, below. Change the settings in the 'Message Editor Interface' at the bottom of edit options.

Click on User CP > Then click on Edit Options > Right at the bottom of the page it should have options for messaging or something, change it.

Bobs your uncle.
