Hayden 92* against all but one of the likely bowling attack at the 'Gabba. The guy's a champion.

Lee really needs to step up this summer for Australia's chances. Definitely can't afford for him to be his usual useless.

flat track apparently at the SCG

Sarfraz/Binge ineffective but not leaking runs so thats ok

Macgillas figures are ok too for a day 1 pitch

Hayden really the only Australian international/international hopeful to have a good hit out so far in this round.

Since when does Quincy bowl? What does he bowl? Is he any good in grade cricket? Can he be a realistic options to replace Symonds in the Test side as an all rounder?

Damn straight. He's a dud opener, The Huss.

Top bloke and gun middle order bat though.
An insightful commentator once said that Hussey was like Superman, only stronger and faster, but his Kryptonite was his Wozzie jumper.

LOL i was surprised to see him take a wicket let alone two today... i dont think he bowls a lot... apparently he bowls medium pacers
i think White just called him to bowl just for a test.. so i wouldnt call him an allrounder.. it was his first wicket today lol

Andrew Mcdonald is better...

but Symo's spot has been sealed IMO

Fox active said he bowled medium pace. Bit of a jump to see him pushing for a test spot. Classic.

With outperforming Lee and Clark it seems.
Bit early to be jumping the gun. Lee and Clark will play, it's between Johnson, Tait and Bracken for the 3rd seamer, possibly two may play, but can't see MacGill being left out.

However, keep taking wickets and Australia lose all bowlers will be replacable if they aren't bowling well.

Hayden, what a champ.
Agreed.

Just wondering what does everything think is a good score or good bowling figures for a test player leading into a Test Match?

When I hear a player like Hayden score 100 - I always think I hope he can carry on the form for Australia. Like obviously it's better then a 3rd ball duck like Hussey, but sometimes I think a solid 60 from 110 balls is perhaps better then making a big hundred.

note - when I say better, I mean for the next test match as it's great to see Test players like Hayden performing well for his state.

Nah, he's a guy who you might throw the ball to in a one dayer if one of your main bowlers was getting a bit of tap. But never an all-rounder. Bowls some medium pace, I guess the biggest thing though is that he can really swing the ball both ways, so if conditions were favourable (which looking outside today, would make some sense) then it can be worth throwing him the ball. Not all that quick though.

Well not too pleased with the way Lee and Clark bowled today but on the other game it was good to see Bracken do well and he was the pick of the fast bowlers today.
Haydos proved once again that he is in the zone atm and it hardly matters to him whether he is facing the red or white ball.
Disappointing to see Huss get out for a duck it would have been good if he could have spend some time out their in the middle, but nonetheless good knock from Pomersbach in testing conditions.

And how he's getting told at the hands of Hayden and Symo.

EDIT: 15 runs off MacGill's over including a massive six from Symonds backed up by a Bracken maiden. Gun.
