Trivia question

Athlai

Not Terrible
Some other non Asian player has more than 1500 runs but less than 1799. Jeez. Was Lara 3rd at least?

Days of Grace

International Captain
Dasa is correct. Clive Lloyd is second on 1629.

The top 3 are:

Border: 1799 runs in 22 matches @ 54.51 with 6 centuries
Lloyd: 1629 runs in 20 matches @ 62.65 with 4 centuries
Fleming: 1571 runs in 18 matches @ 65.45 with 3 centuries

Would never have guessed Lloyd and Fleming t.b.h. Was Lloyd fairly handy against spin?

I wish Flem could add to his run tally.

quick off the draw lad. Did you know that previously?

Good feather in the cap for the often under-rated Courtney Walsh.

Doesn't surprise me at all.:)

Da stats 'ere:

1. Walsh 77 wickets @ 20.53 in 17 matches. Great effort that. 4.53 WPM
2. McGrath 72 wickets @ 23.02 in 19 matches. 3.79 WPM
3. Marshall 71 wickets @ 23.05 in 19 matches. 3.74 WPM
4. Hadlee 68 wickets @ 21.58 in 13 matches. 5.23 WPM (wow!)

This should give Walsh more of a rating on this forum now, but I am sure Richard or someone will point out a flaw in the stats somewhere.

Now, I would love to find out which Asian batsman has scored the most test runs outside of Asia.

Would go for either Tendulkar or Gavaskar. Inzi for third. And maybe Azhar for fourth.

Dasa

International Vice-Captain
Tendulkar has played a lot more Tests outside Asia than Gavaskar, so he'd probably have more runs. Another contender would be Dravid.
Edit: Looked up some figures:

Tendulkar - 59 Matches outside Asia
4524 runs @ 49.17
13x100 22x50

Dravid - 48 Matches
4341 @ 59.47
10x100 23x50

Gavaskar - 46 Matches
3868 @ 51.73
15x100 15x50

Inzamam - 52 Matches
3726 @ 43.84
10x100 21x50

Javed Miandad - 48 Matches
3340 @ 46.39
9x100 15x50

And, because you mentioned him:
Azharuddin - 40 Matches
1924 @ 33.75
6x100 6x50
