Probably true - another good performance from Johnson, and to a lesser degree Symonds will effectively remove the "probably" qualifier...

Any chance of Hilfenhaus playing tonight has been nipped in the bud by Ponting saying he wants the strongest side to play to crush the Indians ahead of the umpcoming home series against them.

No link, just a report on the t.v.

"If we make any changes there might only be a change, we feel that we have built some really good momentum in this series," There is still hope for Hilfenhaus.

Nah.. i don't think any changes would be made and the same XI that played in the last match would probably play again today, if Hayden is fit he might play but i don't think he is still 100% and even if he is fit he is better off taking rest rather than playing in today's dead rubber.
If Hayden doesn't play then Hopes should get a chance to open today IMO.

Whatever it takes!!!
It seems India are also not gonna change their side much. Again, a musical chair between RPS and Sree. I guess Indians just hate to give the youngsters a go.

There was a very talented Indian batsmen with the name of "Badani" (not sure if i spelt it right) any idea what happened to him???

thrown by the wayside, even though he performed well in his last but one international innings, holding our batting together after the fab four had failed.

Another case of selectors simply forgetting a good batsman. He may or may not have succeeded at test level, but he showed he can play well enough in ODIs but was still discarded.

Yes he was good and should have been persisted with.

He did give the impression though that he was playing for himself rather than the team or the situation.

But he was a good bat and a very good fielder too.

I dunno why you got that impression, SJS. Most of his best innings have come under pressure and he almost single handedly kept India in the game in both the tri series final in India against Australia and the one in Australia against them. If anything, I think it was the team mgmt who handled him poorly. I remember both Kaif and Badani getting a game in the first ODI Vs Pak immediately after the Australian tour. Badani faced a few balls at the end but Kaif got in earllier and scored, what seemed to me, a run a ball (keep himself in the side style score) 40 on a flat track in the slog overs without going for the big shots too much and we ended up losing the game. He also pouched a great catch in that game, but many people forget that it was Badani's catch and it would have been much easier for him than Kaif and so logically, Kaif should have allowed Badani to catch it.

I dont know HB why I got that impression.

Its not from the pressure situation or absence thereof but from his overall demeanour. He does not come out as passionate - maybe just his nature. He seemed to be just going his own way. Its one of those silly impressions we form even of great players like Kallis.

Could be completely false that impression but you get it at times.:)

India won that game.

India won that game.
And Kaif's catch was one of the three finest I have ever seen in my long time watching the game. The other two being Madan Lal in Australia and McGrath's famous catch.

I am not disputing that it was a great catch. Indeed, it was one of the best I have seen too, personally. Just saying that it was not logically the right thing to do as the other fielder approaching it had a better chance to take that catch than Kaif. :)

And yeah, I did forget that India won that match... We only lost the second one...
But Pak did come pretty close, didn't they?

I know but these things happen.

I used to be a very enthusiastic fielder myself (a very good one even if I say it myself) and I have been guilty of taking catches that could have been left to another. Mostly I would shout that I was going for it but once in a while you dont, maybe not even aware that anyone else has a chance to get to it or is goingfor it. It happens.

Badani did have a better chance but it would have been a very good catch indeed even for him, he had also run a very long distance.

We are chasing again :(..

Dravid in place of Karthick..the team selection is a joke u have good player struggling for form u have dead game in your hand what u do drop him and give chance to another player.who has failed to perfom in ODI for the last 7-8 games he got....if they really wanted to rest Dravid why in the hell they didnt give chance to rohit sharma...the team selection is a joke

Okay, time to put Clarke back down the order again. Why isn't Hodge opening anyway? He isn't getting runs anywhere else...
